The upcoming D800/D800e from Nikon obliterates the 5D II. 36 mp and optionally no AA filter. Canon's response is the reported 22mp 5D II successor. If Nikon gets their primes and zooms from 24mm to 70mm up to par it's game over. Either way anyone shooting from 14mm to 24mm just found their definitive camera.

Between the D3s and the D800e Nikon will have the best bodies, their lenses are lacking but Nikon is in the perfect position to dominate if they fix that.

First up, the D800/e was Nikon's (late) response to Canon's 5DII in the first place. Meaning, by your argument, Nikon's hated everyone but sports and wildlife photographers as well up to now, but just want to make a tweak to gain some market share back from Canon.

Secondly, why are you arguing along the lines of the D800e (which has been announced, but is not available), vs the current available one, the D700, but then going with the D3s and not the D4?
Stick to available vs available, or announced vs unannounced, bit hard to be jumping up and down just choosing whatever fits your need....

Also: Just how is the 70-200 an action lens? It can shoot anything, TYVM, not just action, its just so good the usually harder action shots look better on it than any other equivalent lens. Imagine how much better the non-action shots look. ;D

oh, and +1 Astro
