Sure wish it were possible to buy Canon gear in a month without an R. It sure is a severe test of my patience to have to wait until the winter sales start up again. On my purchase list sits a 24-70 f/4, a 70-200 f/2.8, and maybe a second 6d body. Also a 55-250 STM for my SL1 would be nice too. But i can't buy anything because the prices are crazy this time of year! This happens every year.
For example, $1500 for a 24-70 f/4? Based on the current 'reputable' gray-market prices, the real market price for authorized resellers is probably about $1000. Certainly i wouldn't pay any more for it. But all the resellers are being forced by Canon to list it for $1500! I wonder if B&H has sold a single 24-70 f/4 in the last couple months? Is this any way to run a business? Sell your product at a price no one will pay?
Oh well. I did succumb to temptation and order the new 16-35 f/4. Mainly because the price doesn't seem too crazy for it and i don't expect the price to drop much in the next several months.
