from TDP.

I'm surprised there's not more talk about this one yet, seeing as how everyone loves their 135/2L (at least, those who can afford one).
T* coating, huge Zeissy focussing ring, looks like it's built like a tank (aren't they all?), €1600 or US$2000, Nikon and Canon Mounts only (i think they've stopped with the Pentax K, and Sony already have a 135/1.8 from Zeiss), 80cm mfd, 0.25x macro.

I know AF and IS get more and more usful the longer a lens gets, but i've shot birds handheld with an MF 300/4.0 lately, this one should be great in the right light.

Wow - 155mm longer, 3 stops faster, and about $118K cheaper than Canon's 1200mm f/5.6L.

With a front element over 2 feet in diameter, that lens must weigh about 50 lbs. But at $2K, do you think Zeiss underpriced it a bit?!?

:P

Oh, wait - I see my mistake. 1355 meters. 1.355 kilometers. 0.8 miles. The biggest telescope ever mounted to a dSLR. Longer than the Grand Canyon is deep. And still only $2K.

:P :P

Looks like all the other ZE's (wonderful), I figured this one was coming since they announced the 135mm CP.2 pretty recently. I'm sure it will be amazingly sharp, just curious if it'll be worth almost 2x the 135L.

It may be boosting amazing optics but at that length having MF makes it impossible for me to focus on (even slowly) moving subjects. And this is what we need a tele most of the time, isn't it? I skip this one. My 135L does more than a perfect job. And for the landscape panos I take my 100ZE. The IQ there is enough for mortals.
