Better than a 1D4
The announcement for the T1/2000D could be as soon as June 9, 2009.
I have another report that says it'll be announced June 23, 2009.

I´m looking forward to the movie-mode. It can not be worse that the one of the 500D/T1i. :D
Oh, yes it can. It could be 720p@20fps and 640×480@20fps.
I think they won’t even be movie mode and even if it does have movie mode, I think it will only be 720p at 30fps :D
2.5 in screen. 12 mp. 2 fps. 7 auto focus points. 720p movie mode. That is all.
I think:
12-14mpx or maybe the 15mpx sensor from the 500D/50D
2-3fps
720 24p
7point af
3″ screen
iso 100-3200
What else could they cripple? Maybe remove the centre AF point? Flip out LCD should be there to make sure as many cameras break as possible.
I understand that serious shooters are skeptical of the entry-level series (X000D) but I think they’re great. Even though they tend to be deprived of the latest-generation gadgetry, you still get the most important technology to take great pictures (good sensor, interchangeable lenses, good AF) at a reasonable price. The upgrade from a p & s to ANY DSLR is huge, and that’s why the entry-level models exist. At $450 my XS was a steal, and I feel better about spending on lenses (which will certainly outlast the body). Scoff if you will, but I am happy with my “crippled” camera. ;-)
So why is this even better news than a 1DIV?
1.3 fps would make me cry.
As far as I recall I’ve never cried, or even whimpered while using my camera so I can only assume that either my photographic needs are different from yours, or perhaps you’re just better at expressing your feelings. Rest assured the entry-level rebels are not for you, Justin.
I was wondering the same thing?!?!?!?
because Canon will end up profiting more from this than the sales of the 1D IV.
1000D was superb IQ wise and give higher spec model a run for their money.
Common, 1000D was a recycling of the old 350D parts (viewfinder, AF module) in a plastic
bagbody. The 1000D line-up is not about crippling functions, but it is rather about recycling old parts.
The 1000D was a recycling of the 350D components. I guess the 2000D will include most internal features of a 400D, connected to a low cost sensor (slow readout).
recycling of the 400D actually (sensor, screen, etc…). with the 350D’s AF module. Simon is right though, it is a very good value to cost, just not for people who need/want high performance, that said it beat out point and shoots pretty thoroughly.
The frame rate was never below 3fps in any rebel before 1000D.
Also do they recycle parts from faulty cameras, or just old “new” stock from their warehouse?
I think just spares they had already produced, as well as keeping the already laid out assembly lines in place.
Fark.. 1D news please. None of this entry crap.
What else makes you cry? Honestly, just why would an entry level camera need more fps? This is a camera for beginners to let them learn about the basics, continues shooting at a high speed is not a basic feature.
Another snob.
Do you want him to just make up something??
There has to be a reasonable rumor to report. We have been getting way more rumors that are exceptionally accurate, so I find the site useful. If they just made up stuff, it would worth a lot less.
Perhaps I could make up something.
The new 1D MK IV will have a new hi-power Laser auto focus system that is accurate to 0.1mm and works with live view and movie mode. It can also be set to turn the camera into a weapon. This might find use at soccer games where you want to disrupt the opposing team by temporarily blinding them. It would give london poliece something to worry about when a tourist tried to photograph them.
For wildlife shooters, you could literally “shoot them”.
It’s an expression. Easy on the literalism. Anyway, you said “deprived of latest generation gadgetry.” I would never say that 3.5 fps is latest generation gadgetry.
I said no such thing. But in any case continuous shooting at 3.5 fps might not be “latest generation gadgetry” but it’s a luxury not needed in an entry level camera
The articulated LCD on my G6 is one of the studier parts. The camera’s been dropped a few times and there’s gapping on one of the side seams. The W/T switch sticks sometimes and the hot shoe is somewhat bent. The LCD joint is like new and being able to shoot with the camera in positions where my face plastered against it is impractical has been very useful.
It’s today!
It’s today! Again!
