We're going to order a couple of Venus Optics Laowa lenses today to get a full understanding of the quality of their lenses. They seem to be expanding their offerings quite quickly.

Laowa offers some unique lenses for the RF mount, such as the Venus Optics Laowa Argus 35mm f/0.95 FF $649 and Laowa Argus 45mm f/0.95. They're probably best know for their Laowa 24mm f/14 Probe lens and large offering of Macro lenses.

For the moment, they are only offering manual focus lenses, but we have heard that will change in 2024 with the introduction of autofocus lenses. No word if they are working on RF mount autofocus lenses with Canon's permission.

  1. If it's as good as a good Voigtländer 15mm f 4,5 III, they'll sell many of them.
The Super Heliar is the only extreme WA that can be used on digital Leica Ms without causing an ugly magenta cast on the sides of the picture . But one has to be a bit lucky to get a good one, production QC is very tolerant. Yet, the good ones are remarkable little lenses which I can warmly recommend.
  2. Let\'s see his distorsion and IQ! but if they are good enough, only for his size, will be a reason to sell my samyang 14mm and put this one in my bag!

I\'m already in love working with the Argus 45mm even being manual focus!

BTW! You say in the title that is a 15mm f5. Correct it :)
  3. LOL, because Chinese doesn’t have an equivalent of pancake, so it’s translated to 饼干, which translates back to cookie.
烙饼 probably is the closest to pancake in Chinese but it doesn't sound right for lenses lol

饼干 is more like biscuit, instead of cookie, anymore.
  4. The pictured lens looks quite a bit bigger than their existing 'cookie' 10mm f/4 for APSC - more like a 'muffin'! But their lenses are generally well built and well priced - so I'll be interested in reviews, because this could be an interesting UW alternative.

Well, technically a pancake is any cake made in a pan.
For some reason in the USA when we say pancake we mean flapjacks.
We even call them that when they are griddle cakes that never touch a pan.

Strange, because in Britain, flapjacks are kind of granola bars...
So, this Laowa is also a flapjack lens ;)
