Canon Fisheyes [CR1]

More Fishies
News of a 15mm f/2.8 USM has been around for a bit now.

An email sent today (which I couldn’t post till now) says Canon will be introducing a wider fisheye lens. There’s no word on whether or not it’s EF-S or circular.

Shove that up your arse Canon and give us a decent EF-S zoom. either an improved 17-85mm IS USM or a new 18-105mm IS USM.

Look, the only reason EF-S exists at all is because of APS-C sensors, and the only reason APS-C sensors exist is because of the need to keep costs down for low-end SLRs. Over time, it becomes cheaper to make FF sensors, so in the long run it seems likely that EF-S and APS-C will disappear. Because of this, EF-S lenses are a lousy investment. Even if you own a Rebel or 50D today, ten years from now you’ll probably have an FF camera and your old EF-S lenses won’t be worth much due to virtually non-existent demand.

I haven’t used the EF-S 17-85 IS, but it gets good reviews, as does the EF-S 10-22. If you want something better than that for an EF-S compatible camera, then forget EF-S, forget the idea that 18-55 or 17-85 is a desirable range for a zoom, and go for the L-series 24-70. Not only will it give you better IQ than any EF-S lens past, present, or future, but it will still be useful to you when the inevitable $1000 FF camera comes along sometime during the next decade.

    What a stupid reply..

There are a lot of amazing EF-S Lenses, some better than some “L” lenses stop you should try some of these instead saying stupid things.

Even if you go for FF in the futur, what we will all probably do, that’s pretty stupid to buy EF lenses only just waiitng like a moron to get a FF body. I know ppl who have a 40D / 50D and use 17-40 instead the great 17-55 f2.8 IS USM some are whinning because it’s not enough wide. Ppl has to understand that the FF sensors and the APC-S sensors are not concurrent but complementary!!

hmm plenty? as in 2 the only ef-s lens worth owning at the 10-22 and the 17-55 2.8 is

and the the 17 55 perform better on a crop then it L counterparts but it does not perform better the the 24 70 on a full frame

what i am saying is that though they perfom better then the ef option thats becuse they are purpose bulit and the ff will allway out perform the crop becuse of the higher optical demand of the aps-c pixel density and the wide angle strain of the crop camera

so highend efs will preform withen its expectation where as a super wide for a ef on that same efs compatible body will not(not the case with telephotos)

i think you understand what i am saying

Yeah and you people how keep putting down EF-S and 1.6 crop are funny too. Not everyone wants full frame you know, so go cry to mummy or mommy if your from the USA.

Hope that just better 15mm FE. I dont use af, I have to tape lense to be sure that it wont go out of focus during shots and it does it very easily. I tried sigma and it was mechanically better, optically same quality, so if I’ll had to buy new I would buy sigma.
Here some panoramas done with 15mm FE

why exactly are fisheyes like 600 dollers they are purposely distrorted seems to me there not a lot of optictal work that goes into make a wide angle with distortion

not that i know enough to make that assumption

And an other thing not everyone can afford expensive lenes like 24-70 2.8L which is why we like our EF-S glass it is cheap, but it could be better.
