Updated
As reported a couple days ago, a new 5D Mark II firmware has been released.

Firmware Changes
This firmware update (Version 2.0.7) incorporates the following improvements and fixes.

  • Fixes a phenomenon in which the aperture exhibits abnormal movement when shooting movies in manual exposure mode and Aperture Priority AE (Av mode) using some Canon lenses (such as macro lenses).
  • Fixes a phenomenon in which the exposure level shown in the LCD panel differs from what is shown in the viewfinder when shooting still images in manual exposure mode.
  • Fixes a phenomenon in which the Wireless File Transmitter (WFT-E4 or WFT-E4 II) may not automatically power off when used for FTP transfers.
  • These phenomenon only occur with the Version 2.0.4 and Version 2.0.3 firmware.

The Version 2.0.7 firmware being released this time is for cameras with firmware up to Version 2.0.4. If the camera's firmware is already Version 2.0.7, it is not necessary to update the firmware.

  1. I heard RAW video is the major selling point of the 5DMk3. It would not surprise me if the 5DMk2 will eventually get 60fps even after the 5DMk3 is released a year or so from now because there is so many in circulation in the hands of videographers.

  2. I’m not an expert on US accounting law, but does “charging for them” mean:

    1) You are required by law to increase the price to your customer

    OR

    2) You are require by law to show in your accounts, how much additional revenue you believe the new addition has generated?

  3. The one case I remember had Apple charge $1.99 for a software update which enabled a new wireless feature in their laptop products.

  4. I’d think that Canon would need a way to differentiate their 1D-series video… this makes me think that whenever RAW video is introduced, it will only be for the flagship model, and cascade down from there. Just a thought.

  5. Or that could be Apple just trying to make a buck. I have to pay for Apple firmware but I have never paid for any Canon firmware.
