In a move that should surprise literally no one, Canon Japan has added the Canon RF 24-105 F2.8L IS USM Z and the Canon RF 200-800mm f/6.3-9 IS USM to the short supply list.
Canon Japan states for both of these lenses that they plan on shipping the items in sequence, and delivery may take longer than usual. Odds are if Canon Japan is facing a preorder crunch this quickly other regions will be quick to follow.
We strongly urge you to get on the preorder list if you have an urgent need for either one of these lenses.

If they can't fill the pre-orders then Canon doesn't understand the market as well as we think they do.
I am surprised by the weak arguments that Sony shooters have had against these two lenses. Maybe Canon did break the internet after all!
How many more lenses need to be released as per the roadmap and rumours??
Supply chain is doomed!
Any production facility these days is being laid out with cost efficiency in mind, so the long term demand is the criteria to focus on.
You will see a lot of those 200-800 out in the field within a year's timeframe.
Nikon has been doing the same and the majority of lenses are in stock after 2-3 weeks of launch date. Just saying
The RF 100-300/2.8 launched at the end of May and it’s still hard to get.
Unless they shut down facilities or laid off a ton of staff they do. but it really depends
They just launched 4 lenses in a short time frame.
but you do have a point, i'm not sure how long it takes them to spin up a new lens.
