A comment from Adorama (in the comments of the previous post)

I apologize for any confusion or inconvenience that may have been caused.
At Adorama we were initially informed – by Canon – that delivery was expected 27th October, and based our subsequent information to customers on this.

I am unable to comment upon what information was given to other retailers at any point during the past months.

However, as you are all now aware, Canon revised these estimates.

Sincerely

  1. For those of you who need to shoot 6 fps to get one sharp shot, a slow 3.9 FPS 5D2 won’t cut it. Even though there’s less Megapixels in the D700, a TIFF conversion will still yield ~50MB. Even if you don’t bother using the many more features in the D700, don’t you feel guilty spending $500 extra only to get less features?

  2. A Henry's Employee on

Just so everybody knows, the Canon rep has been telling us at Henry’s that it would be limited availability no sooner than December since the announcement of the camera. I don’t know what the folks at Adorama were smoking.

  3. ok, I have 3 x Canon 5d mark II body only on order and I never lay alll my eggs in one basket.
Here is the update that I have recieved:
    1. Amazon wrote me and told me the camera would be in stock on Nov. 18th
    2. Beach Camera tells me the camera will be in stock on the 3rd of Nov. and already shows as in stock in their computer system and that only happens, so the CS rep explained, when it is on its way to the warehouse.
    3. Adorama has told me originally the beginning of Nov. but reading your blog lets me to believe the Adorama isa bit behind.
    I will keep you posted.
