Why the delay? It’s been noted that an official weight for the new Canon EOS-1D X has yet to be finalized, I’m told the battery is the reason for this. It was suggested they’re having “serious” issues with the new battery. Firmware Another person has come forward and said Canon is working feverishly on firmware feature changes and updates to the EOS-1D X. The good news is Canon will do whatever it takes to get the camera to market in March as previously announced. Pricing Change? I’m told the $6800 suggested price tag for the EOS-1D X isn’t written in stone. cr

Stolen at CES? The Sigma 180 f/2.8 OS Macro lens that was showcased at CES 2012 in Las Vegas, Nevada has gone missing. The lens was one of 2 pre-production models believed to be in existence. From Germany According to [NL], The Canon EF 28 f/2.8 no longer appears on German price lists. This lens is one of only three lenses left from the original EOS line-up. BETA Shell Cases The first product I hadn’t seen before are the BETA Shell Cases for lenses. They have no distribution in Canada, so I’ve never had the opportunity to run into them in stores. For those that don’t know, they’re basically indestructible cases for individual lenses. They’re priced extremely well and are easy to use. Off to Sigma The first place I wanted to head to was Sigma and checkout the new Sigma 180 f/2.8 OS Macro lens. It’s the first 180mm f/2.8 macro lens ever produced. ISO Tests Focus Numerique has posted ISO samples from the Canon G1 X. A full range of shots from ISO 100 through to ISO 12,800 have been posted.
