Just for a bit of comparison here.
On the other side of the globe (Malaysia), the 7D body only is going for RM5400 but recently just dropped to RM5200 few days ago. The price change is permanent. Not a short term offer though.
RM5200, that is 1632USD.
For sure it’s a catch for US consumer to buy under the rebate now!

Yep.
If you live in Romania the 550d kit + 55-250 is almost $1500 (US of course, around 1460 to be more exact).
That’s “only” 50% more expensive then the current rebate in the US.
So much for globalization.
Don’t worry, at some other countries the price is “only” 90-95% more expensive than in USA due high customs duties and taxes… (and the average cost of living is higher than in USA too, so it’s much more difficult to buy this kind of equipment).
You will hardly find any other place to buy photo gear at cheaper prices than USA.
