What’s Next from Canon?

What about an R10 replacement? In the DSLR days these cameras were on a faster cadence than the single digit cameras. Is this the type of thing no one rumors about and they just appear?
Probably Canon doesn't feel like they can improve the R10 significantly and i don't see it either. Back in DSLR days it was much easier to improve things like AF or bump the resolution with extra 2 MP.

Why I’m Buying The R5C Instead Of The C50 (Or R6 Mark III)

Can time lapse have original sound even in principle? It's just a series of still images stitched together as a video. (High fps/slo mo is another matter).
The final product is a movie so recording some wav file and feeding this into the movie file cannot be a problem. wav files are small compared to video and are no burden to the camera. I would prefer a movie file AND the wav file over the whole period to have more options later.
Finally I use the Zoom M3 microphone with built-in recorder and add the track afterwards leaving room for some tweeks to the sound file.

What’s Next from Canon?

RF 20-50 PZ would be close to the EF-S 15-60 f/4 IS I always wanted for APS-C where it has 32-80mm which is good for wider video angles - especially for R50 V with the PZ treatment.
For FF it would be - if compact - a great emergency (not really) ultrawide lens which goes to the standard focal length.
But for me only interesting if it has good to very good IQ without digital corrections.

A 20-50 f/4 seems like an answer to a question nobody is asking. Why not just buy the 14-35 f/4L instead?

Then again, I'm waiting for my 45 f/1.2 to be shipped so there's that.
I already own the 15-35 f/2,8. But sometimes (often?) when visiting cities, I miss the 50mm focal length, especially when using the 70-200 and, for architecture, the 17 TS.
Saying the "nobody is asking" for a 20-50 is establishing your opinion as a valid rule. And this is what nobody is asking for!

Show your Bird Portraits

Enough of mirrors and back to resolution. The EF 100-400 L II with EX 1.4 is still the sharpest lens I have in the 600mm range. All with R7. My Anna's hummers are very friendly this time of year. I think they know they are on the dole 🤣.

What’s Next from Canon?

Overall, a relatively quiet year from Canon (for me). I did not purchase a single lens although I might swap my RF 85 mm f1.2 L for the 85 mm f1.4 VCM L. I will wait until my local dealer has promotions in the spring of 2026. Still waiting on the RF 300-600 mm lens and will also be interested if Canon updates the RF 400 mm f2.8 L to a design with a built in TC and / or lighter weight.

What’s Next from Canon?

I want:
- compact fullframe camera, optimized for photo, not video
- quality non-L 28/1.8 or 1.4 with something better than current STM
- still a proper non-L 50/1.4 with something better than current STM (ok, anything between 45-55mm, I don't care)
- new 28-70/2 which is much lighter and not nose-heavy. I could live with 28-55/2 and non-L, but NO STM thank you very much

Not at all. The name of that lens was leaked about two months ago, together with the 45mm, on a survey from Canon. The user shared screenshots here in this forum.

It’s a power zoom non-L lens, so I wouldn’t expect much.

I really wish Canon would copy the Sony 20-70mm f/4. It's probably the lens I miss most since migrating from Sony to Canon.
