Butterflies, Moths and Assorted Insects...

Thank you, that's helpful.

I had a great time this morning and managed to catch a butterfly I haven't had before...

Nymphalis polychloros (Large Tortoiseshell in English)

Photographed on an old apple tree

Judging by the name you could be in Czech Republic, am I right? If I am, than you should look carefully for the other Nymphalis - N. xanthomelas that is in the red list of that country.

Two Never Before Seen Lenses Coming from Canon This Year

The thing is, if you give the R8II the same sensor as the R6III, the same battery, same EVF and then add a AF joystick…you basically have a slightly smaller R6iii. With a similar price point.
The whole point of the R8 was a budget conscious (and more portable) R6ii.
Well I don't want the same sensor. It has no significant benefits in terms of rolling shutter which is what the R8 line really needs.

I would honestly be fine if they just gave it a third wheel and the bigger battery, maybe just the bigger battery. The R8 is already such a wonderful little package.

You don't even have to wait until then to fix it. Just before lunch I took a photo of a Skylark singing while perched on and partly obscured by a metal fence and netting. 30 seconds and Photoshop and Hey Presto! (I chose the one with the right colour legs imagined by PS.) And as afterthought a shot from last month where only the metal fence perch needed changing. It's scary what can be done now.

"It's scary what can be done now."
What is really scary is the human's ability to cut exactly the branch on which they are sitting...
One day (looks pretty soon) I have to change my "The equipment that matters, is you" to "The equipment that matters is the one that is making your (?) photos". Very sad...

I would be surprised if the R8 II actually switches over to the "retro" camera body being rumored. It seems like the R8 has a lot of potential to be a successful size going forward and to "go retro" probably means losing the traditional Canon ergonomics. Why not just create a new retro model? They can still use the same R6 III / C50 / R6V sensor. But an R8 II with a similar, small body design, but the R6 III sensor and keep it in that $1,500 USD price range would be fantastic.

I hope the zoom lens is the RF 70-180 f/2.8 STM to complete the zoom trinity of lenses (16-28 f/2.8 STM $1,050 USD + 28-70 f/2.8 STM $1,150 USD) at a much more affordable price point. Currently our only option on RF mount is the RF 70-200 f/2.8 L for $2,800 USD, almost triple what Tamron charges for Sony E mount shooters & Nikon Z mount shooters, also $1,150 USD more than what Sigma charges L mount shooters. Canon might save you a little money on a camera body price but you will break even with Sony, Nikon or Lumix on the very first lens that you buy and every other lens that you buy on RF mount afterward gets very, very expensive compared to the competition.

I know that pretty much everything can be changed with PS and/or other AI based tools. I do not mind (small) changes that keep the image representing the natural situation, but ‘object’ to ‘major’ changes, as in your examples. But everyone is free do to as he/she likes and is transparent about it.

In your second example PS removed the toes of the birds leg that is furthest from the camera.

It’s interesting to see how many are proposing upgrades for a lens that pretty much perfect for what is intended for. I’d guess a mkii of the ref 100-500mm would either get minor upgrades or if there a big step forwards we’d probably have to wait a long time. So far, I’d only like two features:
-: TC compatibility throughout the zoom range
- a lock switch/ button when the zoom is the 100mm position. Kind like the 70-200mm F4. If Canon could come with a lock button that works at every focal length (or the 135/200/300 stops) that’d be super awesome!
