Canon engineers talk EOS R and the future of the system

To me personally except I hate evfs the R is actually good enough camera I will ever want or really need, that said since I got my 5D mk iii when it first release I never feel like to upgrade! But I don’t know is my eyes exceptionally good or what, in EVFs I always see it flickers especially in in door lights, which really makes my eyes pain and distract me from composing the real image

Canon to showcase 8K products at NAB 2019, and bring 8K plans into clearer focus

It should result in an image that downsamples to a very clean 4K. Given how efficient H.265 is, I have no doubt it'll create an acceptable 8K image.
I stream YouTube and Netflix in H.265 and am blown away by how much it lowered the data consumption. The 4K content from Netflix looks incredible on the big screen and is barely streaming at 10 megabits per second. 1080 content on YouTube is streaming at 1-2.5 megabits per second.

Patent: Canon RF 28-70mm f/2.2-f/2.8

I wish they would come up with a better pair of lenses for event shooting -- where it would make more sense to break the zoom ranges at 35 instead of 24 (or even 28). Like I said above, a 20-35mm f/2.0 would be amazing. But it would need to be paired with something like a 35-100mm lens for event shooters using two lenses. The 35-100mm could be variable aperture, moderately fast, and get the job done. I also like maves' idea of a 35-85/2.0-2.8. A 35-105mm f/2.8 would obviously be great. But even a 35-105/2.5-3.5 or f/2.8-4.0 would work well for me. But I do feel like you would need f/2.8 at 50mm.

The zoom ranges should "break" at where a person no longer considers images to be wide angle. I would say 35mm would be appropriate for that.

Obviously a Sigma 24-35/2.0 already exists. I would be happy even if there were a 35-100mm or fast 35-85mm lens somewhere on the market to complement it.

Here are the full Canon EOS R specifications

Thank you. I've wanted to get into focus stacking, but it looks quite tedious and error-prone, and I'd rather spend my time taking photos, rather than spending hours post-processing.
If you want to automate focus stacking you may want to look at CamRanger as it has a focus stacking feature. It also supports the R. Stacking is not that hard as the apps do a fairly good job and even PS (which I use) has rarely given me anything other than the most minor of cleanups.

DJI Launches The Ronin-S Gimbal Stabilizer

Long time later but here goes.

Initially I was very disappointed with the Ronin-S, it didn't interface with the 1DX MkII at all, you couldn't even trigger start stop for video from the gimbal but had to touch the camera, also one of my main reasons for getting it was panning time lapses, and I never worked out how to coordinate movement pauses with third party shutter releases over the length of the shots, and I wanted to give the panorama mode a trial, all to no avail just a vague promise of 'we are working on a firmware upgrade'.

Well the software has been updated and the firmware installed and I have to say the Ronin S is now the tool I'd hoped it would be. All the features I was interested in now work, though I haven't tried the gimbal focus control yet, and they seem to work well. Panning time lapses, however complicated the motion, are easily programmed in and effected and the panorama feature makes the cost of multi row pano heads seem like a bad joke.

I have seen comparative footage from the DJI and Zhiyun and believe the Ronin is the better stabilizer, it appears smoother and has a much more solid horizon hold in that it doesn't drift during a movement.

All in all an excellent accessory and with $200 off at the moment ($749-$549) via DJI and B&H I can't recommend it highly enough.

I'd like a canon with an android os embedded.. any thoughs

Is'nt it about time that someone produced a decent camera body with an android os built in. this would enable so many customization options. I'm a sports photographer in calgary alberta my website is http://www.gamefacephoto.ca. if anyone has any comments I'd sure like to know.

By all means! Please NOOOOOOO Android EOS!!! Don't listen to those wannabe nerds! Android Sony TV - sucks! AndroidAcer Tablet - sucks! Android Fossil Watch Exploits - sucks.... Fed up of Android gear.... pure garbage! Doesn't have to be IOS either. Canon should just stick to their core abilities.

EOS R and RF50 in dark warehouse

Really nice set!(y) Yes, the face detect automatically focuses on the eye, always, missing whatever is in front like the nose, mic stand, hands, hair etc.

I tried today with this combo in a activity center/gymboree (not sure what it’s called) And I was so seriously disappointed with the AF, nearly everything was oof... it was fluorescent lightning and quite okay light, f1.2, 1/1000s iso 6400-10.000 but no AF mode worked. As long as someone stands still it was flawless, but the big issue is low light and tracking, everything backfocused. It seems even the RF50 requires loads of light to track...
