if it's just to try out buy the cheapest , but not as a keeper - I took me a few tries to find suitable pratika to EF mount adapter ( I have 3 extra)

I ended up with this Phil. It works great. There is another company that offers the adapter with a focus confirm chip.

You may have some adware running as a browser extension. I don't see any ads on Canon refurb store (yes, I disabled my uBlock Origin). Try to check / disable all your browser extensions and maybe run MalwareBytes.

I'm not trying to block the ads, I just want them to advertise something I can actually buy. :)

But they don't advertise anything :) I meant I don't see any ads @ Canon store even if I disable my ad-blocking software.

I have my script and ad blocks disabled on CR but still never see any ads. no idea why (FF & W7)

What's Your Favourite Product So Far in 2017 From Canon?

The Rumor is in the Canon Community that more people are becoming less loyal to Canon as Canon is not loyal to their desires and needs.

Here we go again. Cue the sales stats in 3, 2, 1...

In the last 3 years (home and at work) I have purchased Canon, Nikon, Sony, Olympus, GoPro, Fuji, and surprisingly, nothing from Panasonic..... except security cameras....

So much for my brand loyalty. My MO is to get the right tool for the job, the brand doesn't even come into consideration except with DSLRs where compatibility with existing lenses is a major factor and the Canon stuff tends to stay Canon and the Olympus stuff tends to stay Olympus...

+1

Sometimes the right tool for a job is a disposable camera.

Bike Polo

Hi Tex.
Now that is funny, one or the other but not both! ;D
By the way, lest anyone should think otherwise, I'm no health and safety nut, I grew up not wearing a cycling crash helmet and still believe it is my choice to wear or not to wear. It is my prerogative to look where I'm walking or fall over the crack in the pavement, it is not anyone else's fault when I am looking at a distraction! :-[
I sometimes think airbags should be replaced with a spike (or just an old fashioned steering wheel and column) people might be more careful with a sharp pointy thing instead of a pillow! :o ::) ;D

Cheers, Graham.

Hi Tex.
Nice, some interesting shots.
I notice a very personal approach to health and safety, from just a brain bucket to gloves and knee and elbow armour, is it a not very tightly governed sport?

Cheers, Graham.

Thanks Graham. Safety? I can't speak for Bike Polo as a whole, but at this tournament, you were not allowed to drink alcohol and smoke marijuana while playing. One or the other was fine, just not both. Seriously, this is kind of a hippie/hipster sport. Many of the contestants flew in from the USA, mainly New York, rode their bikes a few miles from the airport to the park, slept and played there, and then rode back to the airport. This is the dry season in Puerto Rico, and it gets them out of the winter blahs of New York.

Caon eos 800d picss and specs

Sorry to hear you lack the imagination and understanding that the 100/2.8L can be used for more than just macro shooting. Sad.

For once, I agree. The 100mm L is a magic lens that allows you to see the surrounding world in another way.
It is the only piece of glass that I ever got close to stealing. Yet again, the guy who lent it to me does not seem to understand its potential at all. Could it be that people have their particular focal lengths they see in? Like I used to see in 35mm and now I see in 50mm. Is it an aging process?

Making sense of the M series cameras and lenses

Mt Spokane Photography said:
The issue with the M series is that Canon treats them as glorified P&S bodies, using the Digic Processors and firmware from P&S with modifications, of course. That means no tethering to PC, and a lot of missing features.

If Canon put out a mirrorless camera based on a DSLR processor and firmware, it might gain more acceptance. However, the issue would be larger battery required for a more powerful processor, and thus, a larger body. Might as well just use live view and DPAF on a DSLR.

So, for now, its a super P&S with interchangable lenses.

I'm going to check one out as a upgrade to my G1X II, but right now, the M5 and M6 are grossly over priced.
I really want to try an M5. I think it would make a good camera for my wife being lighter than the 40D she is currently using. I think it should be great for the pictures she takes of our great-grandkids. However, I agree they are over priced so I am waiting for a price reduction or at least a free lens adapter....preferably both.

Price watch...best time to buy?

cszy67 said:
historically I am the kind of guy who washes his vehicle the day before it rains.

With the 6D II around the corner is there any reason to wait for better pricing or should I buy a 6D now?

Been there done that. over and over
Private is probably right, it will probably drop some more after the mark II is released. Depending on the initial release price of the 6D II, it may or may not be effective immediately. No one knows..

If you're considering buying used, the 6D price used is very likely to drop shortly after announcements and come back up a few months after release. In my area, disregarding new releases, used camera gear is cheapest around November. This is a trend I've noticed for a number of years.

Why invest in a sinking ship?
Just watch it go down and keep your money
Competition: if Nikon goes down, there will be less pressure on Canon to bring out big improvements at reasonable prices.

Don Haines said:
Not a sinking ship.... think of it spending some money to fix a leak..... an action meant to save the ship...

Presumably, njene was responding to PureClassA's immediately preceding post suggesting that Canon buy out Nikon. If so, your responses don't really make much sense. ???
Ah, I see. If Canon buys-out Nikon it will still diminish competition. :'(

But what if... Sony were to buy-out or buy a controlling interest in Nikon? Like they bought up Minolta.
If Sony buys Nikon, they will slowly kill F mount and try to switch them to E mount like they did with A mount. By buying Nikon, Sony inadvertently ends up killing EF mount biggest competitor.
[/quote]

I doubt anyone in there right mind would kill F mount. More likely they'd maintain both mounts and just cross-breed sensor and optical expertise with Nikon.

Canon 80D for wildlife and BIF experiences?

The 7D2 came out first so thats probably the main reason people went for it over the 80D. Its more of a tossup now that both are available.

Its lovely for ISO 100-200 compared to the 7D2, but over that, theres nothing in it IQ wise, if anything the 7d2 is better, as well as AF, frame rate, buffer etc. So I use the 7D2 for wildlife and the 80D for people and video.

The lack of an AF expansion option, ie the 5 point one is annoying too.
