I have the 5dsr with battery grip and the same -lplate as on my 5d3 with battery grip

On the new usb 3 wire for 5dsr canon has mounted a security bracket with to screws in order to hold the usb 3 jack in place / not having it accidental ripped out - This new security device can not be used with the RRS l-plate - but apart from that its all good

Just kidding. Of course the 1D X Mark II will have (at least 14fps), it does that already with the mirror locked up.

I think we can expect far greater things from the 1D X Mark II than these poor rumours.

Really appreciate your posts and insights AlanF. I must say that after a winter of photographing Aussie sports with the 7Dii and 300 f/2.8 ii with and without the 1.4xii, I much prefer to go without the extender and crop as required in post. The light is just not good enough for the sharpness I crave at 1/2000s and it seems to struggle in AI servo.
I am about to take the plunge on the 100-400 ii for a trip to Zambia and am hoping to be able to replicate your results with the 1.4 extender. Weight restrictions probably mean I will have to leave the 70-200 f/2.8 ii at home. Hopefully the 300ii and 100-400 with extenders will do the trick.

Hi Sabaki.
Looking at this from different perspective, is your EF-S 10-22 wide enough for you? If so then 16mm will be the FF equivalent! If 10mm is not wide enough for your shooting style then maybe, just maybe you are in need of a wider lens, which one I'll leave to others as I have no idea there.

This is a great event,you have to get up early stay close buy to venue and go multiple days trying out one or two lenses per day that keeps it light weight.

I also would think this camera will need to adopt CFAST cards as the CF are already saturated at 1DX speeds/resolution. If we do need CFAST to get higher FPS at higher MP then I hope Canon just goes all in and puts dual CFAST slots even though that will mean extra entry cost to buy new cards. I really hope they don't go the Nikon route and mix the slots (one CFAST, one CF)...I hate mixed slots on 5D3 and 7D2.

Anyways, I've avoided trying out the 5DS/R and will try to avoid any 5D MkIV/X temptation and save my pennies for this 1DX2 camera.

Along with your point (1), I hope there will be f/5.6 cross-types in the left and right columns. The current array 1D-X and 5D-III is only cross-type with f/4 or faster lenses. I predominantly shoot with f/2.8 lenses for my work, but when I'm casually shooting wildlife I use f/5.6 or f/6.3 zooms so the peripheral points are essentially operating as line type.

I completely agree with the card slots. Mixed card-types is annoying on my 1Ds-III and 5D-III.

Further, correctly exposed images appear to be more pleasing from the 5Dsr. Nothing wrong with the A7 files they just appear warmer and a little less defined. Good files though.

At some point I'll do a full vs, but we were looking at real world use more than gravel pits that were 5 stops under exposed.

Thats strange , opposite conclusion then rest of the reviewers out there.

I have used Benbo (the predecessor of UniLock) for over twenty years. As far as tripods go they are not fantastic, but fun and very good for field macro work. It wasn't meant as a criticism. I think the person I mentioned and asked is a native speaker. Just curiosity.

Collective nouns, names of companies etc should indeed take the singular of verbs. The Americans are much more careful about the correct grammar than the Brits. Our ill-educated politicians are among the worst culprits and usually say the "Government are.." instead of the correct the "Government is" etc.

Recent brief TN video comparing a7rII versus the usual suspects, both stills and video. AF experience with Canon lenses and Metabones Mark IV adapter was much better than Commlite adapter; but, still mixed performance. Up to ~ 300 mm seemed o.k., over 300 mm - i.e. long end of 100-400 mm zoom and 400 mm & 500 mm primes - performance was "not usable." Tracking seemed much improved but not fantastic.

Watch and draw your own conclusions. Remember, it's TN so not terribly scientific.

I do video for a living, amongst the many cameras I have used and presently use, from 2/3 type ENG to 1/3 type camcorder to DSLR I very very VERY ocassionally grab a quick pick up or cutaway shot on my Powershot SX230, primarily because in some occassions I see something that would be useful, and it happens to be the only camera I have on me (it lives in my glovebox)

In good light, and with a frame rate flash in Cinema Tools it actually cuts in very well with DSLR footage for GV type shots. The 400mm+ equivalent zoom is useful as is IS.

Downsides are that there is no manual control.

Do any of Canons other powershots offer any form of manual control in video, main problem is auto exposure ramping, sometimes WB is off, and occasionally too high an ISO kicks in...

It's not to replace a dedicated DSLR or video camera, its really something compact, big zoom with just a little control over video. CDHK can't help... any thoughts?

today, every p&s-camera can take also very good image quality... (how often do you print poster from your "walk-around-trip? ???

i often compared (daylight-) pictures - dslr and (for example) my fuji x20... downsize them in photoshop at 1920x1080 oder maybe 2048 x 1536 for ipad, do a little bit sharpening and you wont see a big difference.

(all together, maybe a little bit worse than crop-dslr - but the fact of size and weight makes a "p&s-walk-around-zoom-camera" much more comfortable.)

if i want good/premium quality (nightshots for example)... I take my FF and a good glass.
If that doesn´t matter (walk-around)... p&s is the way to go

what i would like to say... cheap superzoom... WHY???

Going from speed lights to D!'s and I have read the flex tt5 can give HyperSync which is not as good as high speed sync but similar. Wondering if anyone has experience using it outside and what you think of the results.

Hi,

I'm looking into getting the 1D C for 4K Shooting in the next 6 months or so. Has anyone heard anything about its replacement? The C- 300 series is double the price, so out of my budget. Just trying to gauge wether it is a good time to pick up the 1D C or not. I heard rumor that they might not update that camera at all, that or just combine the two 1D lines again.
