i agree compactness should be the main focus. my brother has a fuji XF 10-24. while it is very nice lens, im so glad i went with EF-m 11-22mm. my only wish is the APS-C is 1.5x instead of 1.6x which currently makes the 11mm just that bit less wide. but that requires a fundamental rethink for all lens i.e. im sure it will never happen ;D

LensProToGo has compiled a list of what was stolen earlier this week from their offices outside of Boston.</p>

B&H has many for their products listed as 'Discontinued/Not available at this time'. I love my half dome softboxes, and would buy another, but no one seems to have any stock.

@PVAlpha: Thanks for suggestions. I will run through them to see if I can isolate the problem.

I shot a wedding over the weekend (1100 frames) with the new body, many with the Speedlight, with no lockups. I did not use the remote control for any shots, but I don't see how that could be issues.

I ran out of ink that came with my MG6220 Photo Printer and ordered some off brand ink on amazon. Does anyone have experience getting ink and what ink should be used? Could it be the ink or my settings on my printer?

How do I get the best, sharpest photos from my printer? Settings? how do I calibrate?

To clarify: I'm using the off brand ink, and there is a lot of color banding (especially when viewed in well-lit rooms) in my prints, and a green tone.

Thanks for the input. For this picture I probably did focus too close, I'll dig through the hard drive to find it and see where focus was. I have other samples where I was using 40mm and didn't really get anything sharp except a shore line about 1000m away. Faces in the foreground were shadowed mind you, but softer than they could have been. I do think I'd enjoy the challenge of tilt/shift, but want my expectations realistic. last thing I want is to be disappointed given the cost.

Not bad, but the questions on memory cards and IS and tripod were obviously just thrown in there for the benefit of some listeners and they were not truly interested in the answers. The memory cards question was likely a disguised sales pitch, I'm not sure what the old lame IS question was hoping to accomplish.

The discussion on using any desirable image from any lens at a larger size and maintaining it's look before you have to result to sophisticated upscaling I think is an important one; not just the max detail of the sensor when you have a razor sharp lens in front of it.

A few more images would have been useful with more onscreen comparisons.

If the Leica Q had this sensor the 35mm and 50mm crop modes would be so much more useful.

It just occurred to me what a mess the 5DS rigs represent to LensTip, PhotoZone, etc. They have had 'reference' cameras to shoot for all their lens testing in the fairly consistent 21-22 MP range (1Ds III, 5D2, 5D3, etc.) for many years now.

But I presume now that they'll have to retest everything they have so people can compare two lenses on that 50 MP sensor.

Sadly, this is one area where I can't poop on DXO. They actually roll up their sleeves and do a lot of this already -- their terrible metrics notwithstanding...

For small testers, its a matter of money. They borrowed many of the lenses used to test and will not be able to test the same physical lens. Even DXO says they rent lenses to test. If the test is not done on the same physical lens, the results may not mean as much.

Then, there is the not so small matter of priorities. If the lenses are not in the hands of a large number of photographers, then the money may be needed elsewhere.

Lens rentals is able to test large numbers of lenses, so they average out. Others may not be able to do this.

Lensrentals did some resolution testing and saw a 20-50% increase in resolution over the 5diii depending on the lens. You should be able to multiply dxo's perceptual mpx by a similar factor.

Just received an email to say that my 5dsr would have an eta of June 22. This is from a camera store in Australia though and I don't believe the camera is being released here till the 19th. Still, I'm one happy camper. Saved quite a few hundred dollars by purchasing through a company that buys overseas models.

A lot of people still use a Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L USM and seeing the performance of a 2003 lens on a 2015 body would be helpful to a lot of long time photogs.

Thank all for your comments. I did my job last saturdaynight and I am satisfied with the result. I have used the 24-70 2.8 and a tripod. Thanks for the tip. I wasn't planning to do so, but it helped a lot.
Because of children in the video, I am not allowed to show the result.

If you don't mind me asking are you using ACR to process RAW files? I played with a cityscape that I took with my 5Ds tonight. I looked at Photoshop using ACR and Adobe's lens profile for the 16-35/4L IS lens, Canon's DPP 4.2.32 and their Lens Optimizer, and Phase One's Capture One 8.3. DPP was the sharpest but looked artificial in some respects. Photoshop was the weakest in terms of correcting lens softness in the corners. Capture One was impressive right from the start. The defaults they applied were closest to what I would want. They also had a Canon 16-35/4L IS lens profile and auto selected it. Sharpness was somewhere between Photoshop and DPP and the overall look of the image was very good with minimal tweaking. I have a large number of 3rd party tools to work with in Photoshop so I can adjust just about anything but Capture One saved a good bit of time getting me close to where I wanted to be just by opening the file. It also transfers the image to Photoshop a lot faster than DPP.

Hello Joe,

In this series I was just using the latest Lightroom CC since it is most common for all. I generally use LR for a quick preview. But most all my production images begin with Capture One. I also used to play with DxO, but Capture One just became a fave for import. Interesting news on 5DS and Capture One. I guess I need to play with it now.

Capture One definitely has a different take on the 5DS raw. With these new high MP files, it looks like there is diversity in the importers.

Too little, too late. Maybe I would have been interested if the Panny was available in North America in 2014, with MUCH less price tag. Now ancient Android 4.4, Snapdragon 801, only 16 GB, small 4.7" 1920 x 1080 screen for that price?!

I just picked up the LG G4 with its 16 MP f/1.8 lens, full manual control, and the beautiful QuadHD 5.5" screen. Takes great photo's with RAW/DNG support, and LG is giving away free extra battery and SD card with G4 purchase currently 8)

I just sent mine to Tamron for service in April for the first firmware update. The lens was returned saying they adjusted the autofocusing system and disassembled and cleaned the lens. There was no mention of doing a firmware update.

Now I'm wondering if I should send in my lens again. Tamron's page says

the system automatically selects the optimal VC mode by detecting the motion of the camera/lens outfit. Thus, no switch-over is required between "ON" and "OFF" after the update.

Does that mean the lens now has an auto-sensing panning VC mode, or that you just don't have to turn off VC anymore when panning? It sounds like the lens now has VC for panning, but I am feeling skeptical because that would be such a big upgrade. Especially for the photography of birds and aircraft that I do.
