The Z has popped up on my seriously contemplating radar, but boy and howdy it's a lot of money. Naturally I want to see every review I can find, I figured that with sand in my shoes, I'd even watch T.N..
He doesn't even have a camera. What of that review I did watch consists of his impressions of what the Z might be about. You get to see lots of TN in front of the video lens, live screen shots of a Z on his PC screen, watch as TN flips through a catalog.
The guy seems to really like talking in front of a camera.
This one is so much not about the Z but about TN, he didn't even include any shots of his wife.

Canon Canada retailers are bundling this also with 24-70mm L f/4. I'm hoping this offer becomes available in the US, I plan to purchase a 6D as well early in the new year. Any thoughts on this as a possibility?

I have my doubts as to street value going down anytime soon. Rebates, often during the holiday season, may apply.

True, but a lot of people had hopes that would be the case. Just saying, the preliminaries are pretty much crushing that hope. It's better than the 7D (as it damn well should be!), but nothing exceptionally good...its a small evolutionary improvement over the 70D.

It would be reasonable to expect the sensor to approach the 5DMkIII's in iso performance, but it clearly does not. Happily so, because it means I won't fall into the 7D 'digital teleconverter' trap twice and rather save up for some serious long glass.

As for crop sensors, Sony has served me fine. In fact the NEX-6 that I previously owned already easily had the 7D beat on sensor performance. The a6000 very nearly matches the NEX-6 high iso performance despite the significant increase in pixel density.

That may be a reasonable expectation from hobbyists and/or those with little understanding of digital photography, but the primary marketing for the 7D MKII is for pro and prosumers. You simply cannot deny physics.

EF 35mm f/2 IS if you need to take a DSLR; otherwise the 22mm f/2 on the EOS-M, plus perhaps the EF-M zoom.

…and besides that burst, they now offer full manual exposure and better dynamic range.

It also sports 4K video at 30fps, HD at 120fps and now has a touch screen display on the back.

Now, why is it a cool little company like GoPro can offer all that in such a small package for such a low price and we are still content with these half ass improvements Canon keep offering at every line up.

Great camera have a look at this post. i bought it in May when only the RX100II was out - do no regret it all as the Sony are too small for me to handle.

I take a camera to more places now as it is more discrete and the equivalent 24mm to 120mm is better than the competition. i have made my own sling shoulder strap with a rock climbing body sling and swivels and connector from the hardware store all for around $11 - beats all the others such as Black Rapid etc for cost and size.

Pluses: Solid feel, large 1.5" sensor, impressive high ISO, flash hot shoe - Canon in-camera flash control, unique dual lens ring control, good Canon colour reporduction; can do good adjustment with JPG - My Colour (contrast, saturation, blue, green, sharpness); basic wifi remote; GPS via wifi from smart phone; 1/4000 shutter; good lens performance; great f stop range - large aperture; 5cm macro; etc

Minuses: powershot software not EOS; cannot manipulate JPG and capture RAW at same time; obviously sensor is not as good as FF; cannot handle high contrast as an DSLR can; no built in GPS

I have recently purchased the filter adapter and a good quality circular polariser and that certainly adds to creating better pictures for landscape. I am also in the process of purchasing a good e-ttl flash to experiment with flash portraits on it.

Suggest you also download the manual and have a good read to help with your research.

The Fuji Xs are very tempting for trips- I already have the X100s- and I see this little piece of joy as a "standalone".
Like the Sony RX100 III......

Excuse my ignorance, but I've read about people returning lenses and I wonder how this works. How does one even go about finding a retailer that would accept multiple returns? The place where I bought my sigma lens from has a once only return policy, and it wasn't like they had multiple copies in stock anyway... (Not that I want to return my lens!)

That's a good point. A lens that fast is for the bokeh, and is unlikely to match the sharpness of slower 50s. That's what the 50L should be all about.

On the other hand, if Canon released something the match the ZE 2/50 Makro, but with USM, IS and ideally weather sealing, it would quickly become my walk around lens. I will dream on...

+1 on the EF-S 10-22mm and EF 70-200mm. I'd add the excellent EF-S 15-85mm to cover the middle for a great kit.

Which 70-200 did you use? I've got the 70-200 2.8 HSM (non OS) and I've used it to shoot a ton of basketball. The AF is fantastic. Maybe the Canon vII is a bit faster, I don't know, but to describe the Sigma as "slow and hunting" is utter hyperbole to the point of being disingenuous. I don't see any vignetting to speak of, although I'm shooting APS-H and usually cropped for composition.

Frankly, I'm pretty sick of the constant FUD surrounding Sigma AF. I've used several of their lenses, I currently own two, and none of them had any issues with AF that aren't also commonly found in Canon's own lenses or those of any other manufacturer, for that matter. The only people who ever seem to have issues seem to always have them with every single Sigma lens, over multiple copies, and just happen to always be big Canon fanboys whereas people who aren't invested in My Team fanboyism never seem to have any problems. Its really weird! And by this point so many people have been trained by the internet to expect AF problems with Sigma lenses that every time they miss focus the lens gets the blame, no matter what the actual reason might be. This doesn't happen with Canon lenses when they miss - its always operator error or "just the way it is".

As far as I'm concerned, Sigma makes great lenses that are 95% of the quality of the Canon equivalent at, often, half the price. Some of the newer Global Vision line is actually significantly better and still cheaper. Since, in the mind of the fanboy, Canon must be the best, always, there must be a downside, therefore Sigma can't AF. It gets pretty annoying.

Agree 100%, i almost put off buying the 35mm Art series because of this constant negative publicity. I'm glad i went through and bought it anyway, no AF problems whatsoever and was so pleased with the lens that i sold the Canon 35mm 1.4L. Currently i have no need for a 50mm otherwise i would gladly buy their 50mm, but a Art series 85mm, now that will be on my list for sure.

From my personal experience, the 24-70mm had very slow af and had enough hunting to make it annoying. The 70-200mm just didn't impress me and it was the OS version. It could have been a copy issue but what I used is what I'm going off of. That's all. And yes, the AF on those two lenses were slow.. haha Without a doubt, when sigma revamps them, it'll probably be on par or better than canon equivalents. Since the global vision thing, yes, their lenses are of something you should have in your arsenal. I'm speaking of lenses years before.
