Canon will officially announce the Canon RF 24-240mm f/4-6.3 IS USM this week, with shipping coming in early September on its own as well as in a kit with the EOS RP.
We’ve known about this lens since its development was announced back in February ahead of the CP+ show alongside 5 other RF mount lenses. Only the RF 85mm f/1.2L USM has started shipping at this point.
Below is more about the Canon RF 24-240mm f/4-6.3 IS USM from Canon themselves. We won’t directly link to the source of the information below to protect the retailer.

Both the Canon PowerShot G5 X Mark II and Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark III are scheduled to be announced later this week alongside the new RF 24-240 f/4-6.3 IS lens. Both of the new PowerShot cameras will begin shipping in early August.
The RAW burst mode of 30fps seems quite impressive for both cameras, though there are some caveats according to Nokishita.
The continuous shooting performance of the Canon “Powershot G5 X Mark II” and “Powershot G7 X Mark III” is 20 fps during one-shot AF and 8.0 fps during servo AF (G7 XIII: 8.3 fps?), RAW burst It seems that 30 frames per second only in a specific mode.

Canon continues further development of its miniature lenses for what appears to be smartphone applications.
This is a patent (USPTO) for the Canon 100-400mm camera/lens that can fit in the palm of a child’s hand.
This patent explains more about the camera, along with lenses that will mount to it. In theory, Canon could develop a range of different focal lengths that will attach to the camera unit.
Could this be the birth of a tiny new camera and lens system? I don’t know, but it’s definitely an interesting concept that appears to be deep into development.

Correction: I can’t read a calendar properly, and mistakenly said the announcement would come Monday night, but it will likely come the night of Wednesday, July 10, 2019 (Eastern Time).
In the next few weeks, SIGMA is rumoured to be announcing 4 new lenses for the Sony FE mount as well as their shared L mount with Panasonic and Leica.
SIGMA 35mm f/1.2 DG HSM
SIGMA 45mm f/2.8 DG HSM
SIGMA 12-24mm f/2.8 DG HSM
SIGMA 24-70mm f/2.8 DG HSM
It’s now rumoured that SIGMA will also make these lenses for Canon’s RF mount. It’s unknown if they will be announced alongside their Sony counterparts.
It’d be a good move for SIGMA to get in early on making lenses for the RF mount, as Canon’s RF lens lineup obviously needs some time to mature.
There seems to be a lot more talk about coming Cinema EOS products, so I think we’re going to see a major camera announcement sometime in the next couple of months.
We’ve been told the following about the rumoured Canon Cinema EOS C500 Mark II.
First the obvious, the EOS C500 Mark II will sit between the EOS C300 Mark II and EOS C700.
The Cinema EOS C500 Mark II will be full-frame with the ability to do internal RAW recording.
The camera will be somewhat modular, you’ll be able to build the base for your specific needs.
You will be able to switch between PL and EF mounts yourself.
The camera will be approved for Netflix productions
It’s rumoured that the C500 Mark II was shown to specific dealers at NAB last April and should come before the end of 2019.

We expect at least one new Cinema EOS camera to be announced in 2019, and these price drops could be related to that. Both the Cinema EOS C300 Mark II and Cinema EOS C500 have been rumoured to be getting new versions.
It seems a bit early for a Cinema EOS C200 replacement...
A couple of days ago we reported that Canon was hard at work on a second f/2 zoom, with a suggestion that we’d see a “holy trinity” of f/2L zoom lenses from Canon.
We’ve been told that the next f/2 zoom from Canon will be an RF 16-28mm f/2L USM, which will fit nicely with the RF 28-70mm f/2L USM. None of the f/2 zoom lenses will get image stabilization, but don’t fret, all future EOS R bodies will have in-body image stabilization.
We have no word on what the telephoto f/2 zoom will be to complete the holy trinity of f/2 zooms.
More to come…
