Issues with my VCM lens when shooting video

Hi,

Hope you all had a nice weekend! So I just discovered this issue on my Canon VCM 35MM.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yInUxIfumiE

I was holding my camera steady, and the images shifts left and right before getting into its supposed position. Should I send this lens to Canon to recalibrate? It doesn't happen all the time, but it happens enough for me to step back and wonder whats going on.

R5II Startup from Sleep

My R5 was always a little slow to restart after been unused for a few minutes.
It was a distinct lag maybe 1 second.
I just got an R5II and I'm surprised it has the same general issue.
I saw a thread from 2025 and it was around memory cards being the reason.
Is this really the case or is the camera just slow waking up.
This is generally not a huge issue. With the R5 I had the habit of pressing the focus button as I lifted it up to my eye.
I'm surprised I now need to do the same to the R5II.
I would have expected it to be more responive.
If its card related - why would that be the case. Why would the viewfinder not be ready if it was the card was slow waking up?
Does it happen with all mirrorless cameras.

Canon’s New “Sandwich” Lens Design Patent Teases an Affordable RF 85mm f/1.2

Canon spends a lot of time trying to make lenses smaller and lighter, and most of us out there appreciate the effort. R1 hot pixel cluster after 18 months

I've had my R1 since December of 2024. It gets very little use -- I just dabble. When I first got it I did some basic astrophotography with great results.

Tonight I decided to do some more -- and to my dismay, noticed that I now have extreme hot pixels in a cluster that were not visible before. I can actually see a white splotch in live view at just 2" and 1600 ISO.

The cluster is so bad that stacking with darks does not remove it.

Claude tells me this is 727 pixels pegged at the sensor's max in that one spot.

I'm attaching a hard-stretch so you can see what I mean.

I'm guessing I am entirely on the hook for this as an out of warranty repair. Anyone have any insight, suggestions, or condolences?

For portraits in the 35 to 85mm range - How important is IBIS?

Photography only - hobbyusage - no paid assignments
What are Your thoughts about IBIS when you shoot only 1 person portraits and boudoir within the 35-85mm range?
Mostly homestudio shooting, with occasional "golden hour shots" in a park or a forest-backround.

Do you consider IBIS either wihin the camerabody or the lens crucial to get a sharp image?

Canon to Announce Another “World’s First” at Some Point This Year

Canon is going to be announcing an RF 24-70mm f/2L this year, and for the moment, that would be a “World’s first.” We don’t know when the official announcement will be, but we suspect we’ll see it in late August or early September. We don’t know whether or not the lens will have image stabilization. […]
