EOS R Video - drop outs in HD recordings?

I am a stills guy, no real video experience. Practicing to record a piano recital for kids...
Using a book mic. on hot shoe and good headphones attached (Wow, I love that!)
Using a STM lens (EF-s 18-135) for silent focusing (L glass is loud when mic is used)
Video quality is excellent as expected but I'm seeing dead-spots (drop outs?) for a bit less than 1 second
Shooting the video A+ automatic mode since I do not know what I'm doing. Serve AF (not bad!)
What might be causing drop outs?
Thanks in advance!

RF ultra wide lenses.

Canon RF 12-35mm f2.8L IS USM lens is an ideal super wide zoom lens which I think will be much welcome and preferred by the Advanced Pro. Photographers while it must be of the superseding quality to any existing super wide lenses and a RF 14-24 mm f4L USM will be a very suitable and affordable choice of Semi Pro. Photographers.

To my mind an RF10-30 mm f4L lens is very possible due to a smaller flange distance in the EOS R body.

A built in space for filter holder ring for polarising & Varriable ND filters in all the upcoming RF lenses is a great idea if Canon is really prepared to create that.

Any respectable comments are very welcome.

Patent: Possible soft focus EF to RF adapter

Northlight Images has uncovered a patent for an additional EF to RF adapter, this one would add “soft focus” capability to all EF lenses on EOS R camera bodies.
The USPTO patent shows the adapter working with all sorts of EF lenses, such as an EF 24mm f/1.4L II, EF 35mm f/1.4L II and the 135mm f/2L.
According to Northlight, “the specs point towards full frame sensors and backfocus distances which could fit with having the soft focus element inside an EF->RF adapter”

The soft focus elements are shown in red in the image below.

Patent: Canon RF 28-70mm f/2.2-f/2.8

We’re likely going to see a flurry of RF mount lens patents over the next few years. EF lens development generally builds off previous designs, RF lens development, for the most part, is going to be all new. I think we’re likely to see some crazy and cool concepts over the next few years from Canon.
This patent application is for a different 28-70mm, which doesn’t resemble the RF 28-70mm f/2L USM at all. This patent shows a 28-70mm lens that is much smaller at 155mm compared to the RF 28-70mm f/2L USM at just shy of 200mm.

Japan Patent Application 2018-197774:
Focal distance          28.84  44.14  67.90
F number                    2.25   2.62   2.91
a half field angle     36.88  26.11  17.67
Image height            21.64  21.64  21.64
length of the lens   146.94 157.60 175.00
BF                                   20.75  28.77  34.64
Focal distance        28.82  44.24  67.90...

Lensrentals.com disassembles the Canon RF 50mm f/1.2L USM

Canon latest and greatest 50mm lens, the RF 50mm f/1.2L USM has been received by Lensrentals.com and promptly taken apart to see what’s going on inside these new RF mount lenses.
From Lensrentals.com
What we did see, though, is the R lenses are not only entirely new optics, they are also largely new electrical and mechanical systems. There are a lot of different things in here that we haven’t seen in any Canon EF lenses. Some of them we should have expected, like the increased electronics going to the control ring. Others we don’t really understand yet, like the tension spring in the ring USM motor or the increased electrical shielding.
But one thing that is very clear: the RF lenses contain some new technology they haven’t used before. There’s a lot of engineering that’s gone into these. Things are different inside here. As we’ll see in the next...

EOS R exposure issue?

I was taking pictures during a kids indoor performance with the EOS R and the 300mm f/2.8 IS II. The camera was set to Av with auto ISO and a min shutter speed set to 1/250s. For a while, it was working fine, but then a spotlight (I think) turned on, and the electronic viewfinder was overexposed by 3 stops or more. However, it never adjusted, and the viewfinder remained overexposed. I took a picture and reviewed it on the back of the camera, and it was overexposed like the EVF. I then set the ISO to 3200, and the viewfinder/pictures were back to normal. I wish I had saved that picture... Has anyone else have a similar experience?

Patent: Canon sensor tilt to offset image plane changes

Here’s a patent that has been misinterpreted on a few websites out there, but Canon News has translated the patent correctly for us. This patent is being interpreted as IBIS (in body image stabilization) when it is in fact related to tilting the sensor to offset changes in the image plane.
Canon News breaks down Japan Patent Application  2018-194766:
This patent application describes cases when zooming a lens, the image plane “tilts” and shifts.  This patent is so that when you are zooming the lens, the sensor will automatically tilt in two axis, depending on instructions from the lens itself.
We have yet to see a detailed IBIS patent from Canon, though we reported yesterday that IBIS will be coming to a future Canon EOS R series camera.

5 axis IBIS coming to next Canon EOS R series camera [CR2]

One of the biggest features missing from the first Canon EOS R for a lot of people is in-body image stabilization. Canon has always been a company that has said in-lens stabilization is their preferred way of doing things, as they have made claims that it’s better than sensor based stabilization.
We’ve seen enough comparisons over the years that show sensor-based systems work as well as lens-based systems in most scenarios.  There still seems to be a bit of debate when it comes to stabilizing super telephoto lenses.
We’re being told by a pretty good source that Canon will introduce 5 axis IBIS (in-body image stabilization) in the next EOS R series camera. We’re not sure how this is going to work with in-lens stabilization, but if Canon could figure out a way to make the systems work together to improve performance, that would be a big step forward.
More to come…
