I'm looking to update my 70d, which is usually used for my video work, but now that I've updated my pc, I want to get a good 4K video camera.
I'm looking at an XC10 or one of the XF400 cameras. That's the sort of budget I have.
I don't do lots of professional work, but I do a few weddings, corporate events and also like to video birds and my cats!
My pro videos almost always have dubbed sound, so I don't need the XC15.

I really like the form factor of the XC10, but could be swayed.
What do the users of the XC10s and 15s think of them? I'd love to hear your thoughts as some stuff I've read about them says they're rubbish and other reports from users say they're fantastic.
I'm not doing high-end videos but I'd like to offer good 4k content to some of my corporate clients that would be happy to pay extra for it too.
I would generally be using it in auto or semi-auto modes.

Optoma UHZ65 vs Sony VPL-VW385ES video projector

Both are calibrated (this should put to rest the argument that one can "easily" get the same colors from any source/camera).

The comparison shows why I'm no fan of Sony colors - to me they often (not always) seem to exaggerate greens that I consider detrimental on portraits or warm scenes.

I wonder how others see this?

I have an opportunity to get a 16-35F4 that appears to be in perfect condition..... my question to the forum users is, how do you like it? Are there any other full frame wide angle zooms, including third party) that I should be looking at?

Over the last week or two, I have been saying that all signs point to Canon not announcing a mirrorless camera body ahead of Photokina, which begins late next month.  We mentioned this again yesterday.
All of our known sources, still maintain that they know of no mirrorless camera coming, even as recently as a few hours ago. Unknown sources have told us that a full frame mirrorless camera was coming, but history has taught us that the known is usually better than the unknown. I may have been wrong this time.

We’ve known about Canon having an announcement on September 5, 2018 (EST) for quite a while, and that has been confirmed by other sites as well.
Recently, Canon Watch posted a specification list for an upcoming full frame mirrorless camera from Canon.

The Red Bull Cliff Diving competition guested Copenhagen again this past weekend. Each of the 12 divers would make 4 jumps from the top of the Opera house 27 meters down into the harbour.

First image show the harbour & Opera house from my shooting point (24-70/2.8, shot at 70mm).

It takes the divers about 3 seconds from they jump off the platform until they hit the surface of the water at 85kph (almost 53mph for the metrically challenged) - check the second image.

The day was rather cloudy and pretty windy, with the wind playing a bit of havoc on the divers preparations.

Compared to last time in 2016 (link), I used a 1Dx and rented a 600mm Mk II lens (vs 5D3 + 300 Mk II) together with my 2x TC Mk III. I didn't have the opportunity to AFMA the lens+TC to the body, but I from looking at the images, it wasn't far off (and any problems was more on my side that the technical side). The images came out quite 'flat' so I had to massage them a bit and add + 2-3 in saturation and some USM sharpening to make the images look attractive.

I was shooting across the harbour, so from 180-200 meters away (and ~26m below the platform). I'm not sure of the desaturated images are due to the 600+2xTC combo, the distance to the subjects or both.

I hadn't checked what the 1200 f/8 vs 600 f/5.6 would do to the DOF, and this caught me a bit out I think wrt sharpness. With the '16 setup I had a DOF of ~31 meters, whereas the 1200mm setup has just 11 meters of DOF.

For those who have shot with the 600 MkII + 2xTC III combo, what are your experience here? (paging Dr @Neuro)

Wanted to quickly see if anyone has had results or experience with the combo above. I picked up the 6D Mark II last year during the Black Friday extravaganzas and have generally liked it (the Dynamic Range hasn't been an issue for my usual subjects, aviation). Up until now I have been using a 2010-bought EF 100-400MM as my primary telephoto.

Obviously, with the move to full frame, I have lost some effective focal length compared to my previous crop bodies. As such, I have been looking at the new Mark II of the 100-400mm plus the 1.4x Mark III, which would retain 27 AF points with the extender. This would obviously give me back some of that reach that I have lost in those scenarios where I find I am missing it.

Has anyone used this combination here? I am strongly suspecting that the AF coverage relative to the frame will be fairly poor, given the already poor coverage on the 6D II will all AF points active, however I wanted to make sure that this wasn't a known "lemon" of a pairing. I have been able to find precious little in terms of actual discussion of this pairing, just a lot of legacy chatter about the original 6D.

the stingless bees are particularly tricky to shoot with them being so small (about the size of a coffee bean) and pretty much never stops moving

I'm looking for a bag that can carry 2 of these light unit's. They have their own bag that carries one for $100 but that is a JOKE. I would never pay that much for a little bag.

Any suggestions? I'd like a bag that is somewhat padded but mainly fits the 2 lights.

Does anyone know if this is possible? I have a couple custom profiles from a c100mkii that I’d like to load on the C200.

We continue to see and receive reports about a Canon full frame mirrorless camera being announced on or around September 4, 2018. We’re pretty confident that no ILC cameras with or without a mirror will be announced ahead of Photokina next month. We expect to see some lenses announced, but no camera bodies.
As we’ve mentioned previously, there is always a possibility of a “development announcement”. These type of announcements are usually quite hard to get wind of in advance.
We think the first half of 2019 is when we’ll start getting new camera bodies. The EOS 90D, EOS M5 Mark II and a full frame mirrorless camera are the obvious models to be announced next.
We had to address this again, as I continue to get questions from readers.

The current Canon leading edge sensors for EOS-M mirrorless and liveview for DSLRs are based on Dual Pixel AF, which is widely applauded for its excellence for video and liveview. But, will DPAF be adequately fast for rapid focus? Do you think they will have to embed Phase Detect for action and also for spot focussing over a very small area?

Finally got around to this one. 5D Mark III, EF 70-200mm f/2.8L II IS, no flash.

I like the elegance, or is it inevitability (?), of the Nikon solution for existing F-mount lenses on the Z-mount bodies.

Maybe I’m being oversimplistic, but wasn't this the only obvious method?

"Of course Canon will stick with EF lenses on mirrorless" is often quoted/prayed for, but how...

Sticking to EF, on the soon to be announced Mirrorless, will produce a geometrically compromised optical result, the extra distance (removed for the 'convenience' of mirrorless) is part of the design. So this extra distance can/must be added back in by an extender.

1. Will Canon stick with an EF-to-EF adapter?
2. Have the new III-series lenses been (secretly) optimised to cope with the shorter focus distance of proposed mirrorless?
3. How long before we see a Z-to-EF adapter to use Canon glass on the Nikon mirrorless?

I'm using single-point AF on my 1DX. When I try to move the point up a notch to focus a little higher the AF flashes back to the center point when I hit the focus button (using BBF.) Can anyone tell me what the heck is going on? I can't figure out how to fix it!

Canon, if you want beat Nikon's newest lens, 50mm f/0.95 for Nikon's Z series mirrorless camera. Then let us see what you will do about it since you killed FL 50mm f/0.95 back in 1960's as designed for Canon 7 and 7s rangefinder cameras. Then you killed again with EF 50mm f/1.0 a few years ago.

Are you going to make new EF 50mm f/0.50 ??? Hey, I may need a monopod to support this lens. Will Canon's new mirrorless camera(s) will accept R/FL/FD/FDn lenses with an adapter like Nikon did with the Z series camera. You better do it this time!

Well I took the bait and I am hooked on mirrorless. I got a Sony Alpha 7r III which I hated at first and was going to return in favor of my 1DX Mark II. Then I realized I liked both cameras and decided to keep both. After a few weeks of not even touching the Canon, not only I am keeping the Sony, but I am selling my 1DX II.

The quality is just too impressive compared to the 1DX II. Not only the MP but the Dynamic Range is just astonishing. The focus is flawless. It never misses.. The EVF takes time to get used to and it needs some tweaking and the ergonomics are horrible but after using it for a month and being able to customize ALL buttons and dials to my preference, even the G button on the Lens itself for "playback", I am sold. I love the swivel screen, I wish it swiveled 90 degrees downwards as well but it is a lot more sturdy than the flimsy one on a 6D Mark II, for example.

One very important thing that makes a lot of sense, specially for long exposures, is the lack of mirror slap and shutter action that prevents the camera shake. I never seen steadier and sharper photos in muy life. In fact, I Never seen this quality before, ever... In 17 years using Canon, I switched to Sony because technology moves a lot faster than Canon seems to think.

I hope to see something amazing from Canon Mirrorless after Photokina.
I hope they don't stick with EF mount. It's time for something new. People cling to the old stuff they own, because it's already paid for and it would mean buying new but, isn't that what new is supposed to be? All new? Why have a 2018 Mirrorless camera with a 2010 lens? Dumb in my opinion. I agree with Nikon's new Z cameras and the new Mount. If u are gonna get the very best, u need to have the best combo.
I am extremely happy with my A7R III. It has changed a lot of things for me and it has improved the way I shoot. I was too comfortable with the 1DX II but also limited by it. The Sony opened up a completely new world for me. Just knowing -exactly- what you are shooting through the EVF is a game changer, and then the Dynamic Range. It is almost as close to the human eye as -I- have seen.
I am not gonna stop loving Canon. It is in my heart forever but times change and the world doesn't slow down.

DOn't be afraid of mirrorless or of a complete change in system. Sometimes, change is exactly what you need to wake up your numb senses.

IBC Show 2018 in Amsterdam begins on September 13, 2018 and Canon will have a few Cinema EOS and broadcast announcements ahead of the show.
We’re told that Canon will announce new Cinema EOS accessories, but no new cameras. We weren’t told what sort of accessories to expect.
Canon will also announce a couple of broadcast lenses, but we don’t know the focal length of the lenses at this time.
We have been told that a new Cinema EOS camera body would be coming in 2018, and that it would be a C300 Mark III. However, we haven’t heard anything further about a possible new C300.

I've been hearing from my sources deep in the camera industry that in 2020 Canon will launch an EF mount 5D Mark V and at least two EF lenses to support the system the same year. My sources say the new Camera will have a far superior OVF, faster and more reliable AF, and etc. Is this the last gasp of mirrorless? :
