Review: Canon imagePROGRAF PRO-1100

Back in August, Canon announced the imagePROGRAF PRO-1100 17″ printer, which came 8 years after it's predecessor, the imagePROGRAF PRO-1000. Keith Cooper has completed his exhaustive review of the PRO-1100 and has come away impressed. As suspected, if you're already an PRO-1000 owner, the PRO-1100 probably isn't worth worrying about as far as an upgrade

Canon EOS R1 Rockets to the #1 Position in Japan

Yodobashi Camera's top ranking for the last half of November includes a surprising #1 entry for the Canon EOS R1, which would have only been available for sale a few days before the ranking. Yodobashi Camera is a major Japanese retailer, so this looks at the Japanese market more than anything. Yodobashi Camera is atypically

Animal Artwork

I went looking for a thread that may be a fit for this, happy to move if someone has suggestions.

There is a traveling exhibit of elephants made from lantana camera which is apparently a weed that is invading the elephant's territory in India. The exhibit is traveling across the USA into 2025 and then will be sold with profits going toward various conservation non-profits.

I saw the exhibit along the Cliffwalk in Newport, RI in August.

Impressive.

Richard's Thoughts on 2025

Even though Craig laid down the gauntlet for predictions on 2025, I think he cheated. Now I know why this last month, when chatting with him and asking him what would happen in 2025, he just shrugged and said, "I dunno."

It was all part of his evil plan.

Year in Review: Richard's Hits and Misses of 2024

I can't believe another year is almost over. It hardly seems like it was just a year ago that Craig and I were trashing the R100.

My list was almost the same as Craig's, but I can't just say, "Yeah, me too, bro," and leave this at around 20 words, so I have to go off what Craig has already said a bit.

Year in Review: My thoughts on all things Canon in 2024.

2024 has definitely been an interesting year for Canon. There have been some great professional cameras released that we're only starting to learn and create with, along with some innovative lenses designs. Canon even took care of the golfers out there, which is true innovation for an imaging company. You may or may not care,

Need a Point & Shoot? Fujifilm to bring a fixed lens 100MP GFX rangefinder style camera in 2025

The rumors look to be true, Fuji will introduced a fixed lens rangefinder style GFX camera with a 100MP “medium format” sensor in the first quarter of 2025. The camera will reportedly sport a 35mm f/4 lens (28mm f/3.2 DOF equivalent). There will be no IBIS in the camera, but that probably won't matter much

RF 100-500 Sports

Without killing the bank and wanting to do both birding and wildlife with sports for my son, how good is this lens for a possible option with a R6 MK II?
There don't seem to be a lot of choices seeing how my son plays soccer and football getting into lower light options as he is getting older. I unfortunately do not have sideline access for football so I need the reach, so I am quite limited on options. Really concerned about the slower F stop and noise mostly on the football side.

R5 MkII Wi-fi issues?

Finally got the MkII and it's showing lots of SSID's from the neighbors (I'm in an apartment building) but it's not showing mine. The old R5 shows all four of my SSIDs, and so do four smartphones and four laptops. None of the SSID's are "hidden."

The MkII IS showing several of the neighbors' SSIDs (typical cramped Japanese apartment building), as do my other devices. I can match them up one for one with what the MkII is showing, but it's not showing mine.

I've tried several different locations, such as my desk, right next to the router, right next to the repeater, and even in the exact spot the R5 original can see the SSIDs. I've tried swapping the locations of the two cameras and the old camera sees them and the new one doesn't even after swapping the positions.

MkII is on latest 1.0.1 firmware.
Router is a common brand here in Japan, Buffalo WSR-2533DHPL2, with latest firmware Ver.1.04
Repeater is TP-LINK RE305 hardware version 4.0 with latest firmware 1.0.23 Build 230418 Rel.60395n (7480)

Both have separate SSID's for 2.4GHz and 5GHz, so there's a total of four SSID's, any of which would suffice to get this working.
