Disneyland Paris Uses Canon Cinema EOS Products for its New Attraction Ratatouille

HTML:
<p><b>London/Oslo</b><b>, 4 November 2014 </b>– Canon is proud to announce that it can include Walt Disney Studios Park among the prestigious users of its Cinema EOS system products. A series of videos for the new <i>Ratatouille: L’Aventure Totalement Toquée de Rémy</i> attraction have been shot in 4K, using the combination of five EOS C500s and EOS-1D C SLR cameras, as well as a wide range of Canon lenses, including over 20 EF L-series and EOS Cine lenses.  The videos were shot by acclaimed French director, Sébastien Devaud, who was among those to pioneer the use of SLR cameras to shoot video.</p>
<p><!--more--></p>
<p>The attraction, <i>Ratatouille: l’Aventure Totalement Toquée de Rémy</i>, is based on the most French of all Disney-Pixar animated films (released in 2007) and opened on July 10th 2014, after five years of construction work. Considering the challenge, Disneyland Paris immediately decided to shoot in 4K. Ultra High Definition has a resolution of at least 8 megapixels, four times higher than current High Definition (HD), providing total immersion in the action. In 2014, sales in market increased significantly and in May 2014 more Ultra High Definition TVs were sold than throughout 2013 combined.</p>
<p>Canon pioneered the development of 4K cameras with the release of the EOS C500 and the EOS-1D C SLR in 2012, which rapidly became popular in the broadcast market. After testing the different brands and products available, Disney finally chose both Cinema EOS cameras for the project, as they were best placed to produce a professional quality result and tackle the challenging filming environment (light, 3D projection, etc.). Thanks to its compact size, the EOS-1D C was attached to the attraction’s <i>ratmobiles</i>, bespoke vehicles shaped as rats, with on-board devices specially designed for this work.</p>
<p>Stéphane Dery, Canon France Professional Imaging Group Director comments: “We are very honoured to count Disneyland Paris as one of the brands that has decided to rely on the Canon Cinema EOS system for its new attraction. This partnership once again demonstrates the unquestioned know how of Canon in the imaging and optical industry, and particularly in 4K.”</p>

too me it looks like any other brand is getting better and better sensors with each new camera while canon is kind of stagnating.

now 2-3 month from now sony is introducing yet another improved generation of sensors.
making canon possibly look even more outdated when it comes to sensor performance.

on the lens front canon is still one of the best beside nikon.
but other companys improve on the lens front too.
not long and 90% of the customers will find all the lenses they want from any brand.

canon has to act know to get new customers and keep old ones.
i don´t see them doing that. there is no real mirroless alternative from canon.
the A6000 beats the pathetic (sorry but my opinion) EOS-M at everything but price.

even the people who will buy the 7D MK2 because of it´s speed and features would love to have a better sensor in the camera.

would canon using sony sensors make us all a happy bunch of people?

Lens Image Circle Diameter

Could anyone explain to me what aspects of lens design influences the size of the projected image circle? (For example, the EF 24mm f/2.8 vs. the new EF-S 24mm f/2.8 pancake) My understanding is that aperture is dependent on focal length, so it certainly cannot be something so simple as how large the elements are. Unless it is, I suppose, and my understanding of optics is simply too meager.

Anyway, I would be appreciative for any enlightenment on the issue. Thanks!

Great Video on Polaris Off Road Course!

Whatever you do, don't watch this video! Be warned... if you do watch it, you'll likely be tempted to spend some serious cash on a new Polaris! Or on new video equipment and drones! Or both! (What I want to see is the 'making of' video on both how they built the course and how many runs they had to make repeatedly in order to practice/learn the course and then to get all the amazing shots on camera! There are some incredible pans and camera angles presented here! This video shows what being really good with a camera drone(s) can do!

Canon Rumors First Review of the Canon EOS 7D Mark II for Bird Photographers

HTML:
<p>Our friend Glenn Bartley has completed his first review of the Canon EOS 7D Mark II through the eyes of a birder. He will be doing a more intensive review once he returns from a 3 week trip to Cuba in December. Glenn is is one of the top bird photographers in North America and is a great resource if bird photography is one of your interests.</p>
<p>Glenn previously <a href="http://www.canonrumors.com/reviews/review-canon-ef-600mm-f4l-is-ii/" target="_blank">reviewed the Canon EF 600mm f/4L IS II</a> for us.</p>

Another EF 100-400 f/4.5-5.6L IS II Mention

HTML:
<p>The reliable <a href="http://digicame-info.com/2014/11/ef100-400mm-f45-56l-ii-usm.html" target="_blank">Digicame-Info has given a mention</a> to the coming announcement of the EF 100-400 f/4.5-5.6L IS II. This backs up our recent posts (<a href="http://www.canonrumors.com/2014/10/more-ef-100-400-f4-5-5-6l-is-ii-talk-cr2/" target="_blank">here</a> & <a href="http://www.canonrumors.com/2014/10/ef-100-400-f4-5-5-6l-is-replacement-coming-in-november-cr2/" target="_blank">here</a>) stating the lens would be coming in November.</p>
<p>Below is a rundown of what we’ve been told about the lens.</p>
<ul>
<li>Smaller than the current EF 100-400 f/4.5-5.6L IS</li>
<li>Will retain the same aperture range of 4.5-5.6</li>
<li>Zoom ring design instead of push/pull</li>
<li>Similar design to the EF 70-300 f/4-5.6L IS (zoom ring at front of lens)</li>
<li>Lens hood is designed to make using polarizers easier</li>
<li>Lens hood will be ET-83D (from DCI)</li>
<li>New thumb screw design on the foot of the lens</li>
<li>Obvious optical, AF and IS improvements</li>
</ul>
<p>We’ve had no mention of filter size, or more importantly the price of the lens. I suspect it’s going to cost a fair bit more than the EF 70-300 f/4-5.6L IS just to separate the two lenses in the lineup.</p>

6D W/ 24-70MM F2.8L II VS 5D III W/ EF 24-105 IS

Hi everyone, as you know from my previous thread i was wondering whether i should get the 6D or the 7D II first, all agreed on the 6D, and some suggested i go for the 5D III, since the budget was limited i wanted to go with the 6D W/ 24-70 f4 IS, however as i read many posts and reviews about the 24-70 f2.8 II vs the rest, i decided to push the budget for this combo, as shooting in low light was always a problem for me on the 600D, and flash was annoying on public places.

However as i read more and more about the 6D, i noticed that there were some who had issues with the camera that needed a return trip to Canon, even a local camera shop repair guy told me to forget the 6d as he fixed many which should have been brand new, and since i plan to buy the camera from Canada and ship it here (Jordan) the warranty will not benefit me unless i send it back to Canada, i know that bad copies of any device exists, and that it may happen with the 5D III, still a lower chance of bad copies is more assuring.

Plus in the price range of the 6D W/ 24-70MM F2.8L II i can get the 5D III W/ EF 24-105 IS, which as all of you say is the better camera, but as many say, the lens is more important, i believe that, still i can't make up my mind on this, on one hand the amazing low light performance of the 6D along with the IQ of the 24-70 2.8 II make this a killer combo in low light and landscape, on the other hand the 5D III will be the better camera for everything else and mainly birds and action, and you all agree that even though the 24-70 2.8 II is the king of the mid range zoom, the 24-105 is still a good lens.

So, what do you think, and thanks in advance.

Concrete Fall Forest

ICE railway track between Nürnberg and Ingolstadt, Germany.
I like the contrast between nature and technology.

5D3, 100-400L @ 375 mm,
1/400, f8, ISO 400

No croping, almost no pp, just a little bit more contrast.
I did forget a cpl, maybe it could have been even better, because the air was quite humid.
Comments are welcome.

Tripod

My useless carbon tripod has annoyed me for the last time. The first time I used it the leg fell off, then the feet fell off in a river then....well it continued. I have now decided to run it over with a truck so I need a new one. It is three years old so out of warranty. Its a 500f4 mk2, 1DX and wildlife so it needs to be sturdy, hard wearing and quality. I really do treat my gear hard, out in all weathers, the usual for wildlife dudes. I only really know a few manufacturers prior to this one and have had varied results but now its finally time to change and boy will I get some pleasure destroying what's left of this heap of ****! Most of the guys I know go with Gitzo but im not up to speed on their gear with so much choice and looking around there's a fair few other manufacturers from across the globe doing good stuff so any help is much appreciated as I don't want to make another mistake. Oh and im getting old so weight is getting to be an issue.

Is the 7D MK II Really Selling Well?

I happened to check CPW today, and noticed that both body only 7D's as well as Kits are commonly on stock.

Sure, the big stores sell out, but only a few days after the cameras have started shipping, there appears to be no problem getting one from a Authorized Dealer without paying a inflated price.

Some have bought them on speculation, and are going to find there is no profit in selling them, unless, of course, they manage to convince someone that they are not available.

There is nothing wrong with the camera, but money is tight, and the camera is, imho, over priced. I expect that they will be a bit harder to find after Black Friday, but gray market camera will be flooding ebay by then.

Camera Canada sells them for $1698 USD right now, and two US Authorized dealers have them on stock.

Everyone has kits, and, again, you can save over $100 from Camera Canada

7D mark II Handles High ISO Like A CHAMP!!!

Hello dear friends,
this is my first ever post in this forum and besides wishing all my best to you and your beloved i'd like to ask for your kind tolerance and understanding in case i make some mistakes or presenting my opinion in not a very understandable manner from time to time, due to written speech mishandling and differences in culture and way of thinking.

The reason i start this topic is a video i just watched on youtube (awaiting my pre-ordered 7d MkII) where a "white alternative kinda Bob Marley guy" called Jared Polin, whose reviews i watch from time to time, uses his newly acquired 7D MkII for some initial high ISO testing during a night concert. The quality of the stills and video looks phenomenal (at least for an APS-C sensor camera) and i think our high expectations about the original 7D's successor will be fulfilled to the core (at least mine who don't care about 4K, mirrorless and other marketing crap like that).
This is the link to the video:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wPuaIMd09BM

Once again, thanks for the space, time and freedom of speech you provide me, wishing luck, health, wealth and happiness to you and your beloved.

Yours faithfully
Yiannis.
