Spent 10 hours on Friday driving back in continuous torrential rain from Skomer, which is under 6 hours for a normal journey. Recovered enough to process the photos - worth it. We were on the island on Thursday when rain was forecast - there's no shelter there - but lucked out and had fine weather. Here are some Puffins to prove it (R7 + RF 100-400, I would normally have taken the R5 + RF 100-500mm but couldn't face carrying it for the 5 hour slot and the prospects of bad weather). Seemed to cope with eyeAF for the second.

Forgot to say: I'm going to disappear in the next few weeks (lucky you;) ): I'm going to my vacation in SE Europe... If I survive the boiling temperatures there you may see some photos of well known birds (because I'm planing to keep at higher elevations!)- at least for the Europeans! My plans (from few months ago!) to go South-West Bulgaria to get photos of some Mediterranean birds are not acceptable now: it's really hard to imagine (and for Hawaiian to survive!) temperatures of 40-45C! I just hope the trend will change and I can go there anyway!?

Female and male Linnets from the Pembrokeshire coast (R5/100-500mm). I see these occasionally close to home, but not as well as these handsome birds. The first two are a breeding pair. The third has a very fine red breast.

I like if the birds are carrying something in their beak as this one some fibres. This gives pictures a vivid real life thouch.
So I like also the first one most.
The male partner also has something in his beak - here is another view, taken by my wife on the R7/RF100-400, who was further away.

I would love to see how they get all those fish in their mouth.
