Canon announces the RF 800mm F5.6L IS USM and the RF 1200mm F8L IS USM

Well, firstly I fully agree that Brexit was a terrible decission that we (in the UK) will all have to live with - even those of us who voted against it. But - Brexit itself cannot explain a 50 %/ £1000 markup on a lens. There is something more going on, espically as people will be able to...

Canon announces the RF 800mm F5.6L IS USM and the RF 1200mm F8L IS USM

Just seen the UK Prices of these lenses !!! That 1200mm is only £22,449...... Or in USD, that would be $30,000 please. What? 50% more than the US? Justification please, or does Canon just hate UK shops?

A high megapixel camera is coming [CR2]

Wow - in the UK it was completely the opposite - the 5Ds was about £500 cheaper than the 5D4.

New firmware coming for the Canon EOS R5 in the next month or so

It would be really nice if they added the ability to set exposure compensation to +/- 5 stops rather then just 3. A really strange omission from the R5

Canon RF 14-35mm f/4L IS USM to be one of the next lenses announced

I'm not sure about this lens. The 16-35 F4 is my go to lens for about 90% of my photography. The extra 2mm on the wide end is sort of nice - but I'm really concerned about the ability to mount filters over the front. It that is not possible, then I'll stick with the 16-35 EF

    2nd body, conflicted 5DS vs 5D4

Speaking as someone who opted for the 5Ds over the 5DsR, for cost savings - I did a lot of pixel peeping comparing example images, and my conclusion was that I could not determine any extra detail from the 5DsR (at 100%). The 5DsR shots were a tiny bit sharper than the 5Ds, but I figured that a...

Canon Announces That The Powerful Professional Full-Frame EOS R3 Mirrorless Camera Is On Its Way

By not mentioning any of the important specs, this is more of a teaser then a 'development announcement' - my guess is that the R3 will basically be a 'Mirrorless 1Dx3', with a few new bells and whistles of course - with the 'R1' name being held over for a high MP body like the Sony A1. If the...

Review: Canon RF 70-200mm f/4L IS USM by CameraLabs

With a (45MP) R5, you won't need an extender -> you will get better results by simply cropping. R6 will be a different matter though.

What will Canon bring to the table with the EOS R1?

I was surprised by Sony's decision to put 50MP into the A1 - but I think they are on the right track here. Think about it - a 50 (or 45) MP camera CAN shoot at 20MP, and do so at the same speed as a '20MP' camera. However a 20MP camera cannot shoot at 45/50MP [and 8k]. The old notion that you...

Industry News: Sony announces their new flagship camera, the alpha a1

So... its basically a 5DS for 3 times the price, with less noise, more DR and a few more frames per sec :P

Patent: Canon RF 14-35mm f/4L IS USM

With the 16-35 F4 being my current most used lens (by quite a large margin) - I'ld just say that for me - being able to mount filters on the front is a necessity.

Canon EOS R5 impressions by a Canon EOS 5Ds shooter

I have been using my 5Ds about 4.5 years - never needed a sensor clean so far. The self cleaning function seems to do a good job

A bit more about the rumored EOS R for video [CR1]

Another video focused R camera. Its great and all to see Canon lavishing so many new camera's at the video guys, but it would be nice if someone could remind Canon that some of us are still shooting stills... Sour grapes aside, it does make absoulte sense to take the R5 body and create...

Patent: Some very strange full frame lenses

Could be more of a specialist commercial applications rather then consumer? In a similar vain to their ultra fast/low light/high res sensors. I mean, a lens extending right up to the sensor kind of rules out IBIS does it not? But perhaps there are companies out there requireing a specilest...

image.canon has been down for more than 72 hours, and no one knows why

About a week or so ago, Garmin's on-line service was shut down while they were hit by a ransom ware attack. Could the same have happened to Canon?

Industry News: Nikon announces the entry-level full-frame Nikon Z 5, a new lens and teleconverters

This new Nikon is £800 less than the R6. And with the Nikon you get a free lens and 4 extra MP. Of course we don't yet know how well the AF and IBIS systems will compare - but that is quite a wide price difference. I feel it's Canon which has gone for the 'no man's land' price segments

    What’s next from Canon?

It would be really nice to see Canon release an R mount camera aimed at stills photographers. Right now, if I had to replace my 5D's in a hurry (if they were stolen or dropped of a cliff or something) - the options I have for a new camera are: 5D4 (with 4 year old tech) - or move to Sony with...

R5/R6 IBIS effectiveness ratings seem to be all over the board

My theory is that the best way to measure multi axis movement is to space multiple sensors as far apart as possible.

R5/R6 IBIS effectiveness ratings seem to be all over the board

I'll take a wild stab in the dark here - but perhaps the 50 F1.2 and 28-80 F2 still feature the shake detecting gryos built into the lenses to communicate with a [future] IBIS system even if they don't actually feature a floating IS element in the lens itself?

UK pricing leaks for the Canon EOS R5 and Canon EOS R6

Sorry, the R5 looks nice and all, but £4200 is FAR to much. Canon, you have lost the plot. Canon PLEASE. Take the R5 -> hit it with the cripple hammer a few times. We don't all need 8k, or 20 fps -> and get the camera around £1000 cheaper. Just give us an '5D' level mirrorless camera. I don't...
