Bought Getar the new Canon EOS 100D Camera otherwise known as the SL1, Released today in Singapore. Worlds lightest and smallest DSLR I have been waiting to get this for her since the press anouncement as she is really taking an interest in Photography but complains my 5D3 is to heavy. Oh and wow what a great little camera it is, terrific specification virtually an APS C version of the acclaimed 5D2. I predict these things are going to be 1. a great chick Camera 2. Ideal walkaround Camera for Street Photography 3. Used as a second body by the pro's. Whatever you do dont go out and buy an EOS M or any other Mirrorless Camera, This little baby is just going to flatten the market when it gets going. I have added some first Photo's and it even comes with a snazzy little bag

Dear nda, Iv'e had a bit of a play with it and AF is fine for a Camera in this price bracket, my regular weapon of choice is a 5D3 and obviously there is no comparison in terms of AF points but focus speed is fast. At high ISO it's also somewhat grainy but again you would expect this at the price point. One thing that has shocked me seems to be the true colour achived during indoor shooting which I attribute to the WB, it is noticably better than my 5D3. I am worried about this and have started a number of tests on the 5D3 to see why I cant get the same results.
I also like the touch screen function and find it quick to cycle through the menus, there is one problem with this: The lower Menu items are hard to engage when the lenght of the menu is full screen length, but then again maybe thats not fair as I have huge Fingers.
I really can see this little baby as a massive winner to the point where M series/600/650D Sales will be heavily impacted. It is ideal for new entrants to the DSLR scene. Uses for the enthusiast and pro are also there: Ideal as an emergency backup for a Wedding Photographer. Unassuming Camera for a Street Photographer etc.

Is there a chance that this could be a good upgrade from a T1i? All pics I've seen so far look pretty good. My T1i results are really good with my Sigma 17-50 and Canon 100 2.0 and 200 2.8II and I won't be going with a ff anytime soon. The 1.6x factor serves me well for sports, etc., I don't like articulating screens and probably don't need the features of a 7D.

Congrats, this looks like a cracking little camera to me especially with a 40mm pancake, would love them to come out with a 28 or 30 and a 60 at 40ish prices, would be a great little system.
For all the criticism Canon have taken recently I really think they’ve got it right with this one. For me it has the feel of when the OM1 was released.

At $650, I think it would be a nice upgrade from a T1i. You might want to handle it first to make sure it doesn't feel too small in your hands. In pictures, it looks really small. I think some big-handers might not find it suitable.
