Today is 20th so I checked Canon Japan website to see if they had updated the release date which earlier was marked for today.

The date has vanished.

I google translated this: "EOS-1D X Niokimashite new product, currently, has received a very large number of orders, the period of time, your time will be charged before delivery of goods. We sincerely apologize to our customers is that the very We apologize for any inconvenience. So we strive to improve this situation as soon as possible, the item can be delivered promptly to our customers, We look forward to your understanding."

Damn. 'Understanding' is becoming tougher at least for me... So wanted it for my 35 days Africa trip... :(

Neuro.... How I hope you are right. At least they will start shipping, then we hope our pre-booking strategy works out..

But for some reason I am not so optimistic by the sound of the translation.. Was not like that when young, I guess Canon has changed my way of thinking... ha

I have confirmed with Canon directly here in Japan that it is official released today. I am awaiting a call advising if it will arrive at my office today or tomorrow. The good news is that they are actually here!!!

We must make a thread that only includes personal experiences, customer reviews, and samples. I'm living vicarioulsy after deciding to stick with the 5d3 instead, BUT you must try to convince me!! ;D

Man, I hope Canon doesn't pull this crap on every pro-release in the future...

I sit an look at my pictures and think, "Colud this have been done with the 1d X?" and the answer is no, it couldn't, because it wasn't here.... And, for me personally, I can't see what the 1d X will provide of shots the 5d3 can't, but then again, I'm no sports photographer...

Now since I feel assured that I will have the camera for my Africa safari, I am planning to shoot a cobra spitting venom from its fangs.

The zoo keeper says several attempts have been made earlier without proper success because it happens super fast..

Maybe the 12 fps will help catch it!

My trust and excitement were both offered to soon. Much to my dismay, it has not arrived yet. I have spoken to my contact yesterday and again today who said it will be delivered "shortly. Please wait." Not a lot of options other than waiting STILL! :( Will post when it arrives.
