200-800 test images

Bryan at TDP has test charts up for the 200-800. IQ is very similar to the 800 f/11 but 2/3 of a stop faster. You can pick at the charts and say maybe the center contrast is a bit lower and the peripheral acuity is a bit better, but given that we are looking at single samples, the differences are well within typical sample variation (and Roger is not going to test 800mm lenses ). The good news is that the lens is consistently sharp throughout the zoom range, only falling off a bit at 800mm.

We have been discussing these TDP charts since Sunday in the 200-800 Review thread.

The Digital Picture has obtained a 200-800m, which makes it possible to do comparisons between camera + lens cobinations.

I compared the R5 with the combinations RF 200-800mm f9, and RF 100-500mm + 1.4X TC f10:

The result makes me somewhat nervous.
Seems as I should stick with the 100-500 + 1.4X TC combination !?

Go to "Search" at the top of the page, type in 200-800 and "Titles Only" and the thread comes up close to the top (2nd actually). Also, when you start a new thread, ones with a similar title are displayed before you post and you have to check that there are not similar threads. I just tested starting a new 200-800 thread in Lenses and the 200-800 Review thread is top of the list.
