5D iii : how is it handling good old manual focus lenses like M42 ?

Hi everyone,

Here's a question I've already posted on the manual focus lenses dedicated forum (http://www.mflenses.com/) but I still couldn't get any answer : how's the 5D iii handling the manual focus lenses used via adapter (I'm mainly thinking about M42 lenses)?

We know that with the 5D ii, the mirror may hit the back of some lenses (actually way too much lenses!) usually when focused to infinity (for those who are interested here's a list of these lenses http://www.panoramaplanet.de/comp/), blocking the mirror.

I would really like to finally switch to FF to use the full potential of some of my Takumar or Carl Zeiss Jena lenses.
So, is there someone here who uses M42 lenses on the new 5D iii and would he be able to telle wether there is some improvements regarding the mirror clearance with lenses ?

When you want to use a Takumar 50mm 1.4 SMC on a full frame, you'll run into the problem with the mirror hitting the back of the lens. You can mod the lens though, wrote a bit about that on my website www.florianbieler.de. Going to try the lens out as soon as my M42 adapter arrives.
