I saw this on an auction while preparing to sell my 5D2. Does Canon really do this mod?

"For sale used canon eos 5d mark II is in good perfect condition, selector dial lock modified
like the 5d mark III , by canon. "

Yup. I never had a issue with my dial rotating on my 5D MK II or 7D...

Ditto. In fact, I liked the ability to make a very rapid switch to C3 on both bodies but just rolling my hand across the mode dial until it stopped. C3 was my birds in flight setting on the 7D, and a general 'just get the damn shot' setting on the 5DII.

I found with a battery grip, when hanging on a Carryspeed strap, that it would alter the setting. That is admittedly an odd configuration and I wouldn't carry it like that again even if I still owned it.

I never figured out why mine would alter the setting and I had the modification done. But it was when I had the grip on and a BR strap. Maybe that was the answer all along.
