5D2 and EOS Utility

Latest versions of EOS Utility and DPP

Been using my 5D2 with this PC for ages. I upgraded to the new versions of the Util and DPP about a month ago. Everything was running fine.

Now when I try and download images the camera flashes busy when I hit the shutter, this usually triggers the EOS Utility to load, but nothing happens.

I have tried a different cable and reinstalling the Canon software. I also removed the battery from the 5D2 to make sure it was reset. I removed all of the Canon software for the camera and installed just DPP, Util and the Lens database stuff.

Pretty desperate for a fix if anyone has any ideas, please?

Easy on the fix, not easy on the pocket. £300 to repair because the USB is integrated on the main board. That's about 3 trillion dollars, I think

Can be repaired with a few tools and patience.. it's because Canon used a surface mount connector (Bad move there Canon.. golden rule is never use surface mount connectors for user accesisble interconnects.. EVER)

Anyway.. this guy found a way of fixing.. and there's a nice close up of how it's ripped off the board

It's one reason I wish canon would introduce Bluetooth or Wifi interconnect on all cameras for image download.. no plugging or unlugging means nothing can be bent or broken.

Really old topic I know ....

Just managed to get this fixed! £262, Canon Elstree, bargain! Luckily insurance covered it
