I could swear saw the link to a bunch of manuals/brochures of 5D3 on the canon website Mar 1st - but cant seem to locate them anymore. Can anyone post a link or if you've downloaded the same, post/send it?
Yes, I did pre-order at B&H - thought the next best thing to do is read the manual end to end :) Thanks

They were there on the Canon US site late night 1st march/early morning on the 2nd, I downloaded them all, but they were out of date. They were all from 2011 and didn't contain the 5d3 or the 1dx. They obviously realized the confusion that would be caused and removed the links.

hmm why would max fps need to be limited based upon light levels? That means the 1DX might go under 6fps in very low lighting then?

Also curious is that every single mention of improved DR strictly mention it only at mid-high to high ISO and not a single peep about any improvements of DR at ISO100 (where Sony Exmor sensor have been putting Canon sensors to complete shame by at least 2 stops).

Thanks guys, in a way glad that I didnt miss out on the download that night :) The specs sheet is useful, would have to wait for the real manuals guess..

Any word on shipping date?

Possibly the autofocus/metering system needing more time to figure out what it's seeing?

Yeah but I was just wondering since this time is uses 1DX AF and since that does 12fps that would imply the 1DX would have to drop below 6fps at times unless the 5D3 actually doesn't use quite as quick of an AF CPU.

If the user opts to set a slower shutter-speed rather than up the iso in low light of course the f/p/s rate will be affected - so you can over-ride the f/p/s rate by your settings - logical ::)

Wouldn't a camera's fps rating be measured *in addition* to shutter-open time?

The 1D X does drop to 10 frames per second when using high ISO... I think the figure quoted was 12,800 or higher.

http://cpn.canon-europe.com/content/education/technical/inside_canon_eos_5d_mark_iii.do

Also there's a Rudy Winston article called
Using multiple AF points in the EOS-1D X and 5D Mark III
But I can't find the link at the moment as I had turned it into a PDF.

Good to read
Ev AFMA aka Autofocus Manual adjustment is now on an individual lens basis by serial number - and zooms get an adjustment for the wide and zoomed setting.
So if you had 2x 24-70mm you can set each lens individually and for the 24mm and 70mm settings.

Lots of little useful features and explanations in the top article.

Perhaps the speed varies with light levels because of nr or other processing done on the image after taking the shot. Even in raw mode a jpg is still created for viewing.

Or perhaps it's more light that slows it down. Dark images tend to be smaller in file size. Less data to move so it's quicker? I doubt it but just thought I'd mention it :-)
