60D availability

Can you please tell me when the 60D will be available for sale?
I need this to judge the best possible time to get a 50D here in India... lowest possible price before supply runs out.

Please note my selection was only about price and not about how good or bad 60D is. So no 60D bashing hhere please!

They have them in stock at the Best Buy in Akron OH. So widespread availability is not far off.

They are in stock at high street shops in the UK now... London Camera Exchange and Jessops have them.

I tried one in the shop... noticeably lighter than my 50D but handles pretty much the same.

There were 3 at the Mishawaka Indiana Best Buy this morning, all with lenses. They didn't have them on display and they couldn't open the boxes for me until the merchandising people had done whatever they need to do with them.

Widespread availability is apparently here.

Got anybody an idea why the 60D costs in US 1099$, but in Europe about 1475$?!? Whats the reason for that?

The 60D is available in my local store here in Germany.

Here in Sydney they have the kit as well already. I played with it and it feels pretty solid but it's overpriced here. The two lens kit was about AU$2200.

Idd, though the Pentax K-5 seems to be cheaper here, the kit with the new DA 18-135mm F3.5-5.6ED AL [IF] DC WR is only AU$1899 but I have the feeling the 60D will be superior.

I think the high price in Europe is due to the extremely hig sales tax 19% and the fact that there is a standard two year warranty. The $/€ exchange rate probably also comes into the equation.
Everything is far more expensive in Europe than in the US.

The Canon Direct online store has the 60D body selling for $999 and the 50D body selling for $1099.
