70-200 f/2.8 USM: why not mkII?

Hello everybody!

I was wondering why Canon is not replacing 70-200 f/2.8 with an MK II. The first version is dated 1995, right (?) and till now nothing just "only" 70-200 IS USM and MK II..... "only"!

I want to buy the non-IS version but I hope for a MK II: why Canon has not replaced it jet?
Will it be replaced..........?

It's been upgraded twice, once when it got weather sealing and IS, once again when it got better glass and better IS.

What would an upgrade bring that you don't have available already? Canon NEVER upgrades it's lenses for free.

Enjoy the excellent value non-is whilst you can still get it. I have one and it's brilliant value.

Be thankful they have kept such a supurb lens at a reasonable price. Its noticibly sharper than the MK I IS version. I doubt if it would sell at a $2,000 price after a update, you can always turn IS off on the MK II if you do not need it.

non-IS is just superb, IS MK II is too much money for me!

so... I've tested the USM IS MKII and it's awesome... now I understand what a stupid question I've done...
