As an Adobe Creative Live annual subscriber I'm disappointed that Apple beat Adobe to the finish line by providing their Digital Camera RAW update to support several new cameras including the 7D Mark II. I have, for the moment, switched back to Aperture for post processing. If Apple had not announced that they have stopped further development of Aperture I might make it a permanent switch back, sigh.

Most of the RAW software seems to take 6 -8 weeks for a beta and longer for a final version. Apple typically puts out something first, but I don't know how good it is.

The Canon SDK usually takes 6 months or more to appear which can delay some software for a long long time.

...... I hate to invest anymore effort into Aperture at this point but for now it seems to be the best game in town.

Aperture is a good alternative to JPEG only since I'm running Mac OSx Yosemite and the current version of Canon DPP doesn't work. I'm pleased with the results and was a longtime Aperture user before I switched to LR so it didn't take me long to remember the workflow.

I feel the same way. Aperture was my main editing software; now LightRoom is. Apple has literally given up on their professional software and computers (the new Mac Pro is a joke). I'd be extremely cautious to invest in anymore of their expensive software, like Final Cut.

Apple has effectively abandoned users of their image/video management software. A shame really since Aperture is a fine product with lots of potential for future development. Some Aperture features I like more than LR.

Now it's past time for Adobe to step up and release the updated Camera Raw for support of newer cameras such as the 7D Mark II. It's inexcusable that they didn't partner with Canon to have the update ready for the release of what is becoming a significant new camera body release.

And then Canon not supporting the latest version of DPP in Mac Osx Yosemite is another travesty.

DPP 3.14.46 and 4.1.1 work fine for me in Yosemite (on multiple Macs).

You have to select Mavericks as the OS version when downloading from Canon.

Phil.

Interesting, if it's as simple as that one would think the web site change to allow Yosemite downloads would be quite easy. I tried 3.14.15.2 and it doesn't work. Are you using 7D Mark II Raw files?

I don't have a 7D2; but I tried it on some sample RAW files I downloaded from imaging-resource.

Both versions work fine on the 7D2 files (for me).

I'm not surprised 3.14.15 does not work - it's pretty old.

Phil.
