There's a whole lotta hype about the new 5D and its 50 MP but...what about a new Ds body.
My 1Ds 3 is somewhat dated and am not wanting to buy a 5D if a Ds is in the pipeline. :-\

My guess is that one of two things will happen, with the latter being most likely:

1. Canon will see what sells better the 5Ds or 5Ds R and then use that in the next 1Ds model.

2. The 1Ds is dead because the 5DII and III killed it. The 5D bodies are robust enough for the majority of the high MP crowd. The 1D X Mk II will continue the trend of a combat-ready do it all high FPS, modest resolution camera.

Interesting thought, I just read up on the d810 (it seems to be a terrific camera btw...) and Nikon seems to have concluded that dropping the filter is ok for most customers. Canon might go the same way, esp. as they're not free from market pressure or comparisons.

I'm still in the wait and see camp. So far, I've seen a lot of photos ruined by Moire from the D800E, however, with on chip digital A-D conversion in the Sony sensor, it may be possible to create a extremely sharp digital low pass filter that works better than the optical one. A lot of posters don't realize that all cameras have a electronic low pass filter as well as a optical one. Digital technology makes it possible to replace analog low pass filters with digital ones. Digital ones cause some issues, but I'd expect those are mostly eliminated.

One issue is that the Nyquist cutoff frequency is different for red, blue, and green, so too sharp of a cutoff causes issues with colors.
