I looked also at the Stiletto flies (very, very similar!) but they (usually) don't have that harsh bristles around the mouth.Thanks! It does look like a possibility to me.
Thanks Click! She is good in this and finally decided to go into some competitions (influence from some friends I believe!). Her main problem was to compare here photos against a stacked ones! I told her that in the normal conditions in the wild you don't have that much of chance to stack. On Hawaii it's an almost lost cause (the wind!) and in Bulgaria it was the same problem! Also: she will never ever drag a tripod with herselfExcelent macros!

If they suck a nectar from the plants they are nothing scary! If they land on your skin (different species, they don't suck a nectar!) - be careful, not because of the couple of blood drops that you will loose! They could be a vector of some nasty diseases!Scary looking, but fantastic photo
