I was just about to post the same link. It's interesting to see the actual patterns that they use for the test shots. Has anybody seen the grey splotches pattern before?

Phone cameras necessarily have tiny image sensors that can't capture as much light as the bigger sensors on compact cameras or the even bigger sensors of full-frame SLR cameras. But for a given surface area of image sensor, mobile phone cameras actually do better.

i knew my phone makes better images then my DSLR.. i knew it!!!

i mean better per normalized sensor area... of course.

now that this is known.. canon should start blowing up mobile phone sensors designs to FF size. no need for expensive gapless microlenses and other stuff. ;D


ps: i would really like to see how mobile phones score in the DXO mark.
but they are not allowed to make their test public... whatever that means.

....taking photos of test charts and color grids in a lab....good times. The DxO office probably has the highest concentration of adult virgins on earth. At least they get to watch Harry Potter movies in their break room.
