From what the article says about the R5c update, which will also cut the time it take to switch from video to photo (and visa-versa), it looks like all cameras may be in for a boost in AF capabilities.

A new AF mode, roughly translated as Variable Tracking Frame “追尾枠の可変”, will allow the camera to trace the subjects outline. Making it possible to better measure distance in areas with more contrast and to increase the focus angle. A further addition to the head detection mode will enable detection even when the user is wearing a helmet, etc., sideways or backward facing.

Excuse the poor wording, I’d make more of an effort with the translation if I had the time.
