Canon 600D Wheel is Broken

Morning guys. Iam a COMPLETE newb to using my Canon 600D. However the problems with being a newb is when you purchase something you have no idea how to test it.

It appears the scroll wheel in order to change the aperture etc doesnt work. Is there another way I am able to change these. I know its a terrible question. Also poorfully explained, but its all I have. Ha ha.

Set the mode dial to "M" and try again.
If this does not work, the scrol must be defective.

You can change using Q button, but absolutely impractical in real shooting conditions.

Well you can change settings by using other dials, but you definitely are going to want that one fixed if it's defective!

There are two ways this part can fail:

1. Rubber outer loosens and slips over the plastic disc. No clicks felt when turning the dial. Apply tiny dabs of glue to the join with something like a toothpick.

2. Dial clicks when turned but nothing changes. Replace the top plate.
