Canon Cinema EOS C300 Mark III Coming in the Spring? [CR1]

We’re told from unknown places that the Canon will be announcing a Cinema EOS C300 Mark III in the first half of 2018.</p>
<p>What’s rare about the communication is that some specifications were included.</p>
<p><strong>Rumored Canon C300 Mark III Specifications:</strong></p>

<ul>
<li>6K Super35 sensor</li>
<li>Highest dynamic range of any Canon Cinema camera.</li>
<li>180fps @ 2K</li>
<li>60fps @ 4K</li>
<li>Internal RAW</li>
<li>Pricing higher than C300 Mark II at launch.</li>
</ul>
<p>All of this looks great, it just doesn’t look like something Canon would do. Maybe they’ll surprise us?</p>

Based on what the c200 can do and the newly released EVA-1 these specs don't seem too far off to me. It could be a 6k sensor but doubt it will actually record more then 4k. We will probably see all those fps going to a 422 10 bit codec which is exactly why the c200 doesn't do it; so people buy the c400....

these specs would be right in line. consistent with 8K camera in C300 body canon showed over a year ago. so likely more like 8K sensor -> recording 6K image. tired of the over pricing though

These specs are definitely what’s needed. The real innovation will be keeping the price at under $12k and preferably at $10k.

Because to get true 4k resolution on all channels reg/green/blue you need a 6k sensor.
On the c200 green is full 4k and red and blue are at half resolution.

That was sarcasm I’m hoping it really can shoot 5K or 6K to get ahead of the curve. Canon needs to generate some buzz with their Cinema EOS line.

Canon should split their Cinema line with even and odd numbers:

Cinema line:
C200, RAW, 4K bayer, 2K true
C400, RAW, 6K bayer, 4K true
C800, RAW, 8K bayer, 6K true

Video line:
C100II, 2K bayer
C300II, 4K bayer, 2K true
C700II, 6K bayer, 4K true
