Here's a recent portrait with the 135L (pretty much my favorite portrait lens). A little fill flash from the 580EXII, but other than adding a bit of vignette and slight bit of warmness, this is out of camera. Wide open @ f/2

Nice one ... good work with the foreground too!

I really like to include a foreground element with the 135L when possible because it does such a good job with both foreground and background bokeh. Doing that always adds an extra bit of depth to the image.

I like adding a bit of foreground blur too, especially with lenses like the 135 and the 300 f/2.8, which have such a nice smooth OOF blur. Not only does it give an image more of an artistic feel, it also adds a sense of looking through the undergrowth and being there.

Haven't had the privilege of shooting the 300 f/2.8 (someday!), but I don't have any problem taking your word for it ;D

Great image Dustin, but her smile out shines the lens. You could have shot this with virtually anything and it would have been lovely. You have a really good rapport with your models and it shows.

That is very kind. Thank you!

I came across this article about a Russian woman, who got her first camera in 2012 (!). It is a 5DII and a 135 f2L. Considering her limited experience, I think the images in the article is quite astonishing. And it shows why so many are so fond of this lens.

I would not dare to say that this is heavily photoshopped. I have no base for making such a claim. However, the quality of these photos makes me wonder :) These are some of the best pictures I have seen for a long time. I wish that I will someday be able to do such work.

Thank you for sharing and bringing this to my attention. A great inspiration!
