Canon EOS 1D-X availability

Hi,

I was at Canon event here in Slovakia to test some glass. Canon guy told the history of Canon glass. He also mentioned that release of 1D-X is shifted to april.

One photographer also asked about 5D Mk III and this guy told us that we might see a whole new model, that will be above the current 5D Mk II in line-up (nor 7D-isch AF or higher MP count was mentioned, he mentioned that it could be something new) and we might expect it to be announced in 2012. Also he mentioned that current 5D Mk II is still big cash cow so there is no need and sense for Canon to announce it now.

There was a presentation with leneses and 200-400 f/4L with 1.4 TC was mentioned but with no release date yet.

I guess it is the grow path for current 5D MK II owners. It closes the gap towards the 1D-X

Exactly this is what he mentioned, to push 5D Mk II succesor closer to 1D-X/1D-isch-type in some way. And we can expect it to be around 3300+ € (as 5D Mk II when it was announced).

My guess is that something big is comming. Something for landscape/studio shooters as 1D-X is made for sports guys.

There was nothing regards FF entry model (and yes, I want it too). This guy mentioned that when 5D Mk III wil be released (or whatever it will be called) there will still be market for 5D Mk II but...with lower price (which make sense to me, numbers are OK for Canon and margin on this unit is with a room for pricedrop).

Agreed Quiet nice would be a redesigned 50 f/1.4 with ring-type USM - but this is for a lens topic ;-)
