Canon EOS-R5 images

Kitten in a tree rescue, the kitten ultimately decided to jump from 75 feet, but was totally unhurt when she landed.

Normally would have used my 100-400 for this, but when I ran from my car up to the scene I didn't know how quickly they would have the cat out of the tree, so didn't have time to swap. Fortunately, the R5's 1.6x crop mode saved the day in that regard, giving me effectively 320mm.

EOS R5 + RF 70-200 F/2.8L IS, F/2.8, ISO 200, 1/2000th. 1.6x crop mode activated for effective 320mm.

I've never seen a dead cat in a tree, why do people think they are 'helping' trying to get them out?

Fire chief said the same thing afterward, but we see it as a training opportunity for spotting/using our aerial ladder, and a chance for some public goodwill. In this situation, the cat had been up there for 36 hours and multiple people were calling the fire department, so it was easier for the department to give it a shot than have a homeowner attempt to do it themselves and get themselves hurt or killed.
