Canon Patent Application: Handheld tilt-shift

If the camera is able to compute and set the correct settings and keep them while the camera is moved, is of course better than manual adjustments. Simple electronic movements instead of mechanical ones would be worse if one has still to find the correct settings manually. Does it also find the setting for shifting, processing converging lines? Although using shifting handheld is easier than tilting, results may not be perfect but usually acceptable.

In the previous post there was an image of a four way controller and a tilt/shift switch, and it didn't look a real improvement. although it could be needed if as Keith Cooper pointed out, this patent is about moving the the lenses inside instead of shifting/tilting the barrel.
