<strong>Canon PowerShot SX240HS

</strong>It’s not a 5D Mark III, but it’s something.</p>
<p>A photograph of the upcoming Canon PowerShot SX240 HS arrived moments ago. It seems it gets an increase from 14x zoom to 20x zoom. Probably a minor mp bump and DIGIC 5 as well. I’d expect it to be announced next week for CP .</p>

Grrrr.......

This whole "who can have the most x-zoom" race is really taking its toll on lens speeds. These little sensors need lens speed desperately. Heck, at these focal lengths and pixel densities even shooting in direct sun is often going to put you into IS territory if you want pixel-level detail.

No joke. If I could just get my iphone 4S to shoot in RAW I'd be good. The camera on that thing really is pretty awesome.

If you don't mind fixed focal length, slow performance, awful controls, and virtually no flexibility.

The focal length and flexibility I'll give you. Though spot exposure and exposure locking works well. But I use the volume button as a shutter button so I can hold it just like a camera and the 4S is hardly slow. I can get from a locked screen to my camera in just barely over a second.

What a disappointment....sounds like the MP race is on again as well as the zoom race; there goes IQ.

But to make matters worse....f3.5 - f/6.8

Looks like the SX40 and the FZ150 situation all over again and Panasonic has probably bounced back to the top of the IQ with the sensor from the FZ150 on the ZS15 and the new sensor on the ZS20.

True a fine Body, I would have considered a 60D had they not cripped it by removing AFMA (dont like 4 DSLR lines for Canon in APS-C arena.... its way too much) AFMA is Canon's fix for not having lenses in spec, needs to be in all their Cameras.

The big question i have is if the flash will pop up all the time like the SX230 did. They should make it like the Nikon 8200 and have it only pop up when you need it.
