So there are two cinema cameras registered... i am kind of pretty sure we will get two cinema cameras. Because, how many cinema camera announcements are there in a year?

yeah, i just checked it, the EF 35mm f1.4 II costs 2000$ currently, so it is even cheaper. Good sign!

There shouldn't be any compromises made at this price. This is the most expensive mirrorless FF 35mm prime this side of Leicas, along with the Sigma 35mm f/1.2 Art at the same price ($1499).I was expecting the usual Canon L tax on the price tag. What kind of compromises have been made?

me, I like 20mm
I am good with anything 14 to 24 mm and fast. Looks like many of Trevor’s shots are stacks and composites so 35 would work fine. Requires a lot of tracking or post shoot Photoshop. I tend to shoot single shot MW or do a bit of stacking if I want really sharp skies or have an element in the foreground that I need to focus stack to have in focus. To each their own.

Whatever their process, they seem to be good at it
Trevor was using a fairly basic body/lens in the past and got great results. I suspect it is because 35mm allowed that.
He uses a red intensifier filter to bring out the Ha nebula rather than a modded body. The filter doesn't come in a size that fits a wider lens or those possible lenses can't accept a filter.
Wider is easier (hence I like it) but narrower can get great results if the stitching SW works well.

According to TechRadar in the UK, this lens has a heavy digital correction. Some optical purists will hate this.
I saw a bunch of moaners on YouTube & DPR mentioning 35GM being cheaper and optically better....typical behaviour and I'm not surprised.
