The R100 is selling because of the price. Cheap cameras will always sell, no matter how outdated they are. Canon could make a camera from the EOS 450D components and sell a truckload at the right price.
Many beginners don't even know what they are buying. They see the Canon logo and it's a mirrorless, so it must be good.

There has been a market leader before Canon and there will be one after them. Does it matter? I don't think so.

For now these a great numbers and it looks like Canon is doing a very good job. I find the Nano imprinting especially interesting and hope to read more about it in the future.

In my opinion, Canon made a mistake by not releasing a compact camera - an equivalent (in size and advancement) of the Canon M6 (M6 II). This is something they lack and other companies have in their offer. Ideally, it would be a camera of similar size to the M6 but with IBIS and necessarily with the possibility of mounting a removable EVF. Sales of the Canon R100 in China show that there is demand primarily for small, compact cameras.

An RF M6II would likely be a €1400 camera and IBIS would add a centimeter of thickness. That comes really close to R8 size and price.
Personally, I like what Fuji did with the XM5, a Canon equivalent without wasted dials would tick a lot of boxes for me.
The big question is whether Canon should put in a crop sensor or not. A crop sensor would unlock using the excellent sigma RF-S zooms, but a full frame sensor combined with the RF28 would make a super compact combination.

Whatever Canon is working on, I would very much welcome a body without an EVF. I hope the multifunction shoe already supports external EVFs, that would make a lot of people happy.

I do believe it is coming in 2025, as we have reported there will be new segments for APS-C cameras next year. So I think there will be a couple of truly hybrid APS-C cameras.... it's too far off to really know what they'll be.

Whatever Canon is working on, I would very much welcome a body without an EVF.

I think a no-EVF Canon video-first camera similar to the Sony ZV-E10 II and Nikon Z30 makes sense.
