It sucks that I have to pay sales tax, but my cost is still $1138 delivered. I assume Canon will allocate themselves enough to not make me wait longer than B&H, etc.

The EF-S 10-18mm f/4.5-5.6 IS STM has a similar $50 promotion - $249 for preorder from Canon (and you get a free T-shirt ). And it has a ship date of 6/4.

This is most likely a mistake. Somewhere in their fine print I'm sure Canon reserves the right to not honor pricing errors, as do almost all online vendors. They've got plenty of time to correct this one, and quite possibly orders placed will simply be canceled, losing place in the pre-order queue.

Apparently Canon fixed the "pricing error" promotion. All is back to normal. My order is still listed as "pending shipment". CanonPriceWatch thinks they'll honor the promotion and I believe they will. Time will tell...

Not sure it was a glitch. I was about to buy it on Saturday from amazon for $1200 when I saw this. When I logged into the canon site they had it for $1025 + tax of course...so I snatched it up. Just shipped out today. Should be here Wednsday I think!

It must be nice to live in a low tax state...I live in a high tax county in a moderate tax state myself, so refurbs are all that make sense from Canon direct - and it's back to $1199...
